Early next year i plan to expand my rural Japan cafe to include rescuing stray cats in my area to turn it into a unique Cat Cafe. Any help is very much appreciated. www.buymeacoffee.com/realruraljapan

Chris also started his life in Japan working as an English teacher in rural Japan. He has Japanese friends, as well as other expat friends, some of whom are also KZbinrs, who are all clearly working to be understanding and respectful. They too will call out bad behaviour from other KZbinrs and foreign visitors who do not act appropriately. Chris talks about recoiling a bit when he has to explain that he has a couple of KZbin channels. He prefers to film documentaries. He and his friends do sometimes muck about, but it's at their own expense, but they're very respectful of others. They've done some impressive charity bike rides too. Any time you have cultures coming together that are vastly different, there will unfortunately be mistakes. The best we can do is try to learn as much as we can about the other's traditions and respect them, especially if we are guests in their country.

Have had some past co-workers that need to hear this, not even in Japan. Stink out the whole office with perfume so bad it clings to the back of your throat and clogs the sinus.

Talking around the 3:00 mark....so true....my lady is always in old sneakers and hair pulled in so much it looks short😄It was very strange to me at first, but I am used to it now in public places. She does have expensive perfume and jewelry, but in her words "I am so embarrassed to use either outside". Have you anything new for winter planting? I threw some winter cover seeds down everywhere just waiting for Spring again. I guess you will need more fresh vegetables than ever this year for the Cafe venture.

Didnt have time to do anything this winter unfortunately.

Remember folks, that you can have all the money in the world to wave in others’ faces like a vulgarian, but you can’t buy their respect. Never underestimate the power to tell a spoiled rich person: “No, you can’t buy this”.

Plenty of members-only establishments in Australia where prospective members need to provide references from existing members to apply. FYI the 5km rule for clubs in NSW has just been scrapped and the business model is changing to give members-only special event access as well as members discounts on food and drinks (the discount is usually enough to pay back the membership cost in 1-2 visits)

They’ve finally dropped the 5km radius rule a couple of weeks back. Thanks for the great insights ! Having a Japanese wife and spending a lot of time there, but never more than a couple of months at a stretch, you’ve certainly given me some points that I didn’t know or hadn’t considered.

@@tsi4service My story on the original Panthers Club was one night we went to rock concert downstairs the big room downstairs as you walk in. 3 of my mates picked me up in the mosh pit and the crowd wouldn't let me down. About a minute later i was pulled down by the biggest Samoan bouncer that has ever born and knocked out on the floor and then tossed out the club. Both of my shoes are still in the club somewhere. This was about 30 years ago 🤣

I like your channel and your down to earth approach to communicating with those that don't know anything about Japan. I love Japan. And the atmosphere. It's like heaven for introverts. I'm Maori and from the way you're speaking we're probably about the same age. When you mentioned Dolly Parton and The Beverly Hillbillies I totally got it😂. Your sense of no nonsense logic, accurate and reliable information and "when in Rome do as the Romans do or else pay the consequences of your stupid decisions and bad attitude" style is exactly what the Dr ordered. I stayed at a place in Keikyu with shared kitchen dining area. As a non Japanese I can tell you how irritating it is to be surrounded by a group of American basketball youths and their ignorant leaders who have NO CLUE whatsoever as to WHY it's important to be clean, quiet, considerate, and respectful. Their obnoxious boys would actually sit ON the tables, turn up the TV, Talk loudly in enclosed spaces and smell like they were homeless. CLUELESS. On the train I'd hear the conversations of Brazilians from the other end of the carriage they were so LOUD. I can only imagine how Granny, Jed, Jethro and Elly-May would've behaved on the Shinkansen 😂 Passing their pots of home-made food using the pool cue throughout the carriage.🤔 I did get glared at twice tho. Both times at the train station. I think I was standing in the wrong place. The other on the train sitting next to a guy working on his laptop I got up quickly and bumped him. I apologized profusely 😢🙏 but he wasn't having any of it. So down came my Sun glasses😎. Win some lose some. Eating out was an absolute Joy. And finding bargains everywhere was even better. I plan on doing a tour to all of the remote islands next year if the world hasn't gone into WW3 or something else even more Earth shattering.

Japan sounds like heaven considering common courtesy that appears to be the norm. Maybe it will be the cure to misanthropy... one can dream. I would be interested to hear your thoughts about that.

The constant reminders and availability of so much information via the internet doesn't help with this. If you walk into an ice cream shop with 100 flavors you would be probably less content with your choice than if there were only 3 available like not so long ago. When it was Chocolate, Vanilla or Strawberry everybody seemed happier. But now people are hating on others because they see the many options that they may want or passed up if you know what i mean.
@mietje224 күн бұрын
@@RealRuralJapan Yes I suppose japan is a flavor and there are many. A complex topic to explore. Let's just say I don't vibe well with flashy (youtube) extraverts and strong sensory inputs in general. Thank you for answering.

I can get behind the whole courtesy of not smelling like a department store cosmetics section when going to a nice restaurant. I noticed that when I stopped bathing in aftershave and cologne, and switched to low scent products, everyone else around me now smells overwhelmingly strong of artificial scents, so it can be a double edged sword. Needing to wear antiperspirant doesn’t give you license to fumigate yourself in Lynx body spray, though. The Swedes and other Nordic groups also don’t appreciate people who emanate 40-meter-wide artificial scent clouds around them.

In the 90's about a dozen of us attached to 1Mil Hospital were denied entry at Yeronga RSL after one of the AJ's used his service ID as proof of age. We were not RSL members, so no bueno. Civvies could walk right in though. Gotta admit, that was the last time I ever tried going to a RSL. It ticked me off and I still hold a grudge 30 years later.
