There are many different ways you can approach acting. I believe that it doesn't matter which approach you take, the important thing is that you discover what works for you. That may be following one method diligently, it may be to follow no method, or you may pick and choose depending on whats required for any given scene or situation.

Very interesting with your insights! I've read that most of the time actors are out of work and have to find another job, has that been the case for you too? How have you dealt with unemployment?

Yes, it is my experience also, and still is. I have done a variety of jobs, eg steward at sports events, rail replacement controller (get people on buses when trains aren't running), office administrator, tried a few home businesses, etc, and I have been on benefits as well. Some actors have a supportive partner. Basically actors try everything they can to keep going as an actor. The big challenge is that you need a lot of flexibility (e.g. some times you get contacted to do a job the next day), and that is hard for an employer of any side job you may have.
