thanks Mike for another great season on the WSR. I enjoy watching your videos. The railway is quite charming and I hope to get down there next year health permitting. I have just read that you have the services of Erlestoke Manor for all of next season.Bradley Manor has almost completed its overhaul and will be running on the SVR next season.

I watch these videos and I am just amazed at how many types of steam locomotives there are in Great Britain still running on the tracks and ferrying people around. There was a steam locomotive in Hungary that was popular, and this is the end of the list. I do not even remember another steam locomotive. This only steam locomotive was; MÁV 424.

Yes we are fortunate that there are many enthusiasts who love the old steam locomotives and manage to raise enough money and have the facilities to restore them.

I think it’s a good idea to ‘do’ something different for Christmas this year as the Christmas lights trains will become stale- nice to ring the changes! Presumably most of the passengers will be local so they would welcome something different. I like the idea of panto trains!!! Didn’t they have Halloween themed trains awhile back? The drawback being that you need role players! Thanks Admiral!

Yes Diana you are right, the WSR did put on a Halloween theme about 3 or 4 years ago, only once though and very good it was. They aren't doing the Christmas lights train this year. They are doing Panto Trains and Carol Trains and also something called Bad Santa, which doesn't sound very nice to us at all is on the menu for this year! oh and also Santa Trains of course!

No Christmas Lights train this year, Dave. Some Panto trains and Santa of course, but mainly for kids and their carers. So I guess more Garden Centres to check out.

Are there any young people driving steam locomotives these days?

There a some, but the older generations who remember them better do provide most of the drivers. It does take some time in any case to go through the learning experiences from cleaner to qualify to drive them.
