You can only get this way if don't give a shit what other people think. Keep it up Phil, you're an inspiration to all rock guitar players. cheers bud

I'm assuming that the Drills play more than one song at these sessions, and that you have a growing archive of these unseen performances. I hereby request, on behalf of your faithful viewers, that you post a compilation KZbin video, perhaps at Christmas time. Or to commemorate another special event, such as July 4th, Phil's birthday, or his son's first birthday. You could show us three songs at a time (or a hundred and three, actually...). Just a thought. In the meantime, thanks for the videos. It's always a treat to watch Phil wrestle with these beauteous beasts.

Clayton Murray They're too "sterile" sounding. Good for metal, but you'd need really good hands to make it sound right for blues or blues-inspired rock, which is my neck of the woods, and I assume Captain's.

As cheesy as this guy may be he's pretty fucking talented. I think demoing gear is a talent in itself. It has to be given how many people fucking suck at it. Half the time the guy demoing the gear can't get a good tone at all, can't play for shit and has no idea what the guitar is intended for (hence why you get people playing nothing but blues picks on Ibanez RGs) Phil is good at noticing the strengths and weaknesses of each guitar and demoing their dynamic ranges. The fact that he can just pick up and not only play but sing songs like that is pretty dope.

cominroitover80 Phil is in his late 40s, and has been playing guitar since he wasn't even 10, so he obvoisly has been playing guitars long enough to be good, figure out what settings sound the best on different amps, and also know what guitar suits each music genre the best.

Gorgeous guitar. Though these rivets or brass thumb tacks or whatever is all the way around the body, would drive me mad. Notice Phil is almost always wearing an arm band to probably prevent sweat going down his hand, but not here?. I can't imagine what the luthier would have been thinking. Imagine rubbing up against those rivets all night. No thanks. They look super cool, but in my humble opinion should have been recessed.
@loganmiller3710

really if there smooth and flush with the body they probably would present too much of a problem.

No man I disagree. However that's just my personal opinion. Having never touched one of these and likely to never be able to afford one, I can't say for sure, but I don't like stuff in my pockets let alone something rubbing on my wrist while I play guitar. I'm sure they're smooth and flush, but they do stick out some and for me that would be enough to drive me completely crazy, when playing it. Might not bother some guys. But also reckon if this were more universally popular, and didn't look like it was going to bother at least guys like me (which I bet there are heaps of) then Fender and Gibson would be doing it too. Don't get me wrong, it's a super cool looking detail. I love the look, I just think it's impractical and at some point would drive anyone mad.

Woodeso's Guitar Mods Hi! This is Tommaso from Paoletti. Actually you can't really feel them when playing. I had the priviledge of playing Richie Sambora's and Phil's personal Paoletti gtrs and - believe me - the studs (or "nails" as we call them at the factory) don't bother the player. The external look...well, that's subjective, naturally. Anyway, any Wine Instrument can be ordered with or without nails! :)
@WoodesosGuitarMods
@WoodesosGuitarMods 10 жыл бұрын
Wow, that'S COOL! One of the actual builders. I'm happy to be proven wrong by the builder himself. The detail is so striking, it jumped out at me as something that looks super cool, but I imagined chafing with this after a couple hours play. But if you say it doesn't bother the player, I'm more than happy to take back what I said. Also love to try one on my own channel, but sadly probably could never afford one of my own. Thanks for setting the record straight Tommasso. Cheers man!

Response to rbage155: A Fender Vibro King with 3x10'' P10R Alnico to do the tone works of a typical Plexi is incredible! It sounded amazingly adept as it was designed to do just that! I was jamming on my Fender '65 Vibrolux RI ''Lil Vibro King'' with the same outfit but 40watts and only 2x10''P10R's, a MIM Strat Standard with 3 Texas Specials plugged into the JHS (Klon Mod) Soul Food and even though I didn't want it,.. nailed SRV's ''Voodoo Child'' which is what it naturally afforded me it seems everything is designed to sound that way ''SRV'' regardless of the Callaham bridge system and the mods of a blend and no load tone for my personal tastes! So my point is that, Phil bless him, gets what I was seeking and knowing he achieved it gives me motivation to attempt the same! Either way the outcome of his playing just seems natural whether the Evil Robot with the''Evil Monkey'' lol...or Vibro King there's alot to learn from watching others, couldn't tell he switched to a Marshall to do the baddest EVH song ''I'm The One'' it all sounds great, up there with the bestest of them all! You Go Phil! ''You're The One''! BTW I modded my Bad Monkey to sound like a Boosta with a transparent EQ tonestack and sans the overtones that sounds like blown filter caps!
