Phil's secret, he LOVES music, he LOVES guitars, he's not afraid to make mistakes which means he's not afraid to look bad, which means he's not afraid to go flat out. You can only get this way if don't give a shit what other people think. Keep it up Phil, you're an inspiration to all rock guitar players. cheers bud

I'm assuming that the Drills play more than one song at these sessions, and that you have a growing archive of these unseen performances. I hereby request, on behalf of your faithful viewers, that you post a compilation KZbin video, perhaps at Christmas time. Or to commemorate another special event, such as July 4th, Phil's birthday, or his son's first birthday. You could show us three songs at a time (or a hundred and three, actually...). Just a thought. In the meantime, thanks for the videos. It's always a treat to watch Phil wrestle with these beauteous beasts.

Gorgeous guitar. Though these rivets or brass thumb tacks or whatever is all the way around the body, would drive me mad. Notice Phil is almost always wearing an arm band to probably prevent sweat going down his hand, but not here?. I can't imagine what the luthier would have been thinking. Imagine rubbing up against those rivets all night. No thanks. They look super cool, but in my humble opinion should have been recessed.
@CryptGhast201210 жыл бұрын
really if there smooth and flush with the body they probably would present too much of a problem.
@WoodesosGuitarMods10 жыл бұрын
No man I disagree. However that's just my personal opinion. Having never touched one of these and likely to never be able to afford one, I can't say for sure, but I don't like stuff in my pockets let alone something rubbing on my wrist while I play guitar. I'm sure they're smooth and flush, but they do stick out some and for me that would be enough to drive me completely crazy, when playing it. Might not bother some guys. But also reckon if this were more universally popular, and didn't look like it was going to bother at least guys like me (which I bet there are heaps of) then Fender and Gibson would be doing it too. Don't get me wrong, it's a super cool looking detail. I love the look, I just think it's impractical and at some point would drive anyone mad.
@samboraguru10 жыл бұрын
Woodeso's Guitar Mods Hi! This is Tommaso from Paoletti. Actually you can't really feel them when playing. I had the priviledge of playing Richie Sambora's and Phil's personal Paoletti gtrs and - believe me - the studs (or "nails" as we call them at the factory) don't bother the player. The external look...well, that's subjective, naturally. Anyway, any Wine Instrument can be ordered with or without nails! :)
@WoodesosGuitarMods10 жыл бұрын
Wow, that'S COOL! One of the actual builders. I'm happy to be proven wrong by the builder himself. The detail is so striking, it jumped out at me as something that looks super cool, but I imagined chafing with this after a couple hours play. But if you say it doesn't bother the player, I'm more than happy to take back what I said. Also love to try one on my own channel, but sadly probably could never afford one of my own. Thanks for setting the record straight Tommasso. Cheers man!

@guitartec9 жыл бұрын
PHIL.... You're playing Van Halen ALMOST perfectly.... and your're gonna love this... it's very cool... At 11:08, when you do the bar chord with the words, "you better call up the doctor", do the first bar chord as always, but for the next one, leave the pointer finger in the same place and only spread your ring finger (spanning 2 frets). This is the way Ed does it. At 11:22, do the same thing- root the pointer finger where it is, but just keep spreading your ring finger (or pinky???) up the neck. You'll agree, this is the right way.

+Mark Thuaux Is your name Phil? MYOFB!
@Skinny_Karlos9 жыл бұрын
+GUITARTEC DEAN No, my name isn't Phil, it's Mark; I'm just a musician, nowhere near as geed as Phil X at what he does. I did a degree in classical and jazz guitar with the violin as my second instrument. I still play in a local amatuer orchestra, a classic style rock band and a jazz big band -40's 50''s stuff, lots of brass etc. I also put on the occasional classical guitar recital. I'm no great player - you're probably better and I mean that honestly. . I grant you that the last message I sent was, in a word - rude. I appologise for that and please put it down to too much alcohol and some bad personal news. These pages are for musicians to exchange ideas and thoughts and you were quite right to think my message as being from an ass. Last night I was just that and I'm glad it wasn't face to face. I'm not usually like that and, well, I appologise. Howevever the point of my response was that a 'classical setting' is where, I would put forward that, 'sticking to the little black dots and the composers' wishes - hence the 'score' is the time for being a little less flexible with one's own personal musical wishes, than in a contemporary band setting where showing off the good points of a new Italian guitar ( by an ex-pat Aussie luthier ) with a bass player and drummer might grant one some artistic licence with regard to the music played. Take it easy and I hope you accept my apology, it is genuine.
@thegee-tahguy48779 жыл бұрын
