What are you people listening to.........this is the BEST cover by far in every way. He has talent, been through Hell and back and is in for the long haul. Wow. Well done.

easily my favorite cover of the song. whispers of Sufjan Sevens contrasting with the seemingly upbeat guitar... creates a truly calm and reflective, melancholy tone

About 30seconds into the video, this song started playing on my radio.

It's not a remake. It's a cover. So it's going to be different. Like all covers. They are different. I feel it's good to experience a song as a cover. You get to see the emotion portrayed in a different tone and sometimes a different genre of music. Check out Gotye's video on KZbin. He used all the covers from KZbin to make it. It's awesome.

I disagree with anyone who says Jake is not good..I think he is wonderful all around. I admit he is simply drop dead gorgeous...but he is a remarkable talent as well. I am a fan for life, and would enjoy this even if I couldnt see his perfect face and all. Jake--you rock!! Ignore EVERYONE who doesnt have something good to say..some people are just mean spirited..and EVERYONE is a critic.

Probably the best interpretation of the song ever!! Better in many ways than GOTYE themselves! Jake is the perfect package! Smooth, haunting flawless vocals sung by one of the BEST looking guys I have ever seen. And what beautiful cheekbones and teeth...just EXTRODINARY in ever way!! I can't wait to hear you on the radio, and buy your album! I'm a fan for life.

I heard the cover of this song for the first time yesterday by Walk off the Earth and have not been able to 'leave it alone' either. I have probably played 20 various versions of it now! Amazing song... so haunting and powerful... Jake - yours is a great version of the song too... you've got a great voice...

Hey, great comments for Jake Newton. Yes, VERY hard to sing this song but he is the only one on youtube that has the talent( and balls) to try it and pulls it off well. To the others I will say again............if you don't feel it, don't sing it. And whomever said you don't have to have been through something to really cover an Artist, hello?
@candiceley12 жыл бұрын
Think some people should leave off! He's made the song his own! Maybe it doesnt sound too much like the original, but that's the point! You would all be moaning if it sounded to alike to the originial, so think about what you say before you make such harsh comments! I like it!

Wow, you are extremely talented. Your guitar tone matched with your vocal is great, your guitar is reminiscent of sounds of the 60's. One of my first thoughts was Jeff Buckley, which someone actually commented about, I think that's funny we had the same idea. I think it may have been a half step too high for your range, but you hit every note on pitch and maintained your tone. Extremely good man, extremely good.

@Vexxr it's a strange song... almost perfectly sung in the original, which makes people want to try it, but 'modifications' become very difficult. my personal version is to use the same tempo as the original, but rewrite a few of the kimbra lines so they sound angrier. i havent quite gotten them just right, tho, whatever that means.

Dude, great job and excellent guitar work. Your voice is perfectly fine for a live acustic version. A lot of people don't realize what a studio recording adds. I'm a retired music talent scout, so I have some experience...You could push the big notes more with some back up. Learn to hit those hard and clear.
