What's your favorite free video editor?

just getting back into making content, and wanted to give a new editor a shot. i have been using the OG windows movie maker for years because i could edit videos in a matter of minutes (what i do isnt complex) and export time was great. even though programs like like vegas and premier pro are really intricate, i just want something i can get in and get out when it comes to editing. clipchamp WILL replace movie maker for me, but i just really hate that id have to pay a subscription instead of one time buy. the only thing i holding me from using this for free is not being able to use your own fonts. I like all the templates you can experiment with. are there any other programs that are as easy to use with as much premade templates and ideas to work with as this one?

@@foetoidgaming4585 I am exploring every free program and might look into some of the paid options as well when financially possible, so there will be a video covering every editor I can get my hands on!

What about the problem with it constantly crashing? Every time I zoom, it crashes. And after you suffer through getting an edit done, it won't export without crashing. The first couple of videos, it worked, with only a couple crashes during editing. Now, I can't get a video uploaded. A simple google search will show you posts from countless people all saying the same thing. I find it hard to believe you have never experienced any issues. unless this video was the only time you used it.

I've used it multiple times, this was the second video I put out about it. I've had no crashing editing or exporting. I've only edited short clips on this so far, perhaps it has issues with longer video? I'll run a longer edit through it and see what happens.

I used to love making videos with the built in editor in Photos. I'd spend days making low-tier animations because I knew at least the editing process would be quick and painless. Today, I decided to do this again. This was my first time using Clipchamp. I loaded it up with my images and they were out of order. It took 5 minutes just to put them in. Then another 10 to time them correctly and drag them back together. Then I realized I couldn't adjust the times of my clips because they were too small. So I deleted and replaced the ones I needed to scale several times. All while accidentally clicking on the text and sound feature over and over and over and over again. My editing time has increased threefold. Compared to the original Photos video maker, Clipchamp is horrendous and insulting. I would not recommend it to my worst enemy, and I'd rather quit art all together than use it again. For other uses its probably fine though

Thinking about making this my main video editor. As vertical video editing is so much easier. And there's a 4k export option.

It's become my default choice for making vertical video for SURE. I went to make a podcast clip and opened that first out of habit. :)

Thanks for this great video! Something I'm amazed by is that there are immediate free music sources and great templates ready to drop right in!

Enjoyed this video. I downloaded DaVinci Resolve and it's a little overwhelming. I want to make Gaming videos, very simple. I want some basic overlays and editing down the moments where I puzzle confuses me. So I'm looking into less complex editors and might try this one since you've shown I can make shorts with it as well. Thanks for the upload.

Thanks for watching! I've been using Resolve for a few years and even now, there's a LOT going on. I seem to always have to re-learn where things are that I don't use all the time.

Wow, wow, wow. This app is just simply getting better and better. I really hope they do a 4k option soon. I am personally going to be making shorts from here on out on this app. Great video as always bro.

Thanks for sharing. Can I export in 4K if I upgrade to an MS 365 personal premium plan?

See, I appreciate your effort and what you are trying to do here. But are you on too much coffee like the rest of the guys or are you too self centered to just be showing off? I don't get it. What you need to do is go into settings and make your pointer larger and maybe outline it with lime green or florescent pink. Then slow down only a hair, geeze, we aren't asking for much, but what's the hurry, you aren't paying by the second here. Give your viewer a chance to see what the hell you are talking about so we don't have to keep pausing and trying to find your pointer. Thank you for understanding as I will be 70 on Saturday but I am still really alert. It's just too fast for us to keep up with your point

Fantastic feedback! I will definitely add the cursor adjustments and slow down in my presentation for future videos. Thanks for watching! If it does help, you can click the gear in the bottom right of the video, and choose "Playback speed" and choose .75 or .5, that might make it a better pace for you.
