@@lizsays3324 Good point! Cut little aluminum or steel screens to custom fit ducts and vents, (use a good wire cutter) stuff holes with steel pads, use Flex Seal...whatever you got to do. Just think like an insect or a mouse...and plug up those entry points!!!

Tbh I was looking forward to the Astor Place building but the kitchen & bathrooms were really so basic but in great condition for sure. Not sure I'd ever use the fireplace but it is a nice feature. But where do you store the logs? The 2nd bedroom really isn't private since there's no door altho I don't know where you could put 1 with that layout. That roof deck was nice but whoever gets that "bedroom" better not mind people walking thru it to get outside. & those stairs reminded me of the risers in school auditoriums lol. Transit is good tho, a few different bus & subway lines right there & Wegmans should be opening soon so grocery shopping won't be a problem. The 2nd, that "bedroom" with no windows is better used as an office or even a huge closet unless you're a vampire & then it's perfect lol. The 3rd, we'll this price is what we've come to expect. I don't remember which 1 it was in but who has a 700 watt microwave anymore??? My 1st back in the '80s was already a 1000 & now I have a 1200. Even heating instructions on frozen meals use 1100 watt as the standard. Just retire that 1 & buy your own.

Lastly be careful of roommates. I know people who are in NYS housing court trying to evict squatters. It's a nightmare. Do not let stranges into your house or apt. It can take YEARS to evict in NYC and the landlord will hold you responsible. They will take you to court to evict you. Better off getting a small place than having a bigger place with a roommate

Lava lamps are magical. I love the building! The architecture! A little disappointed that there wasn't an ornate fireplace mantel in the first unit. I'm not a fan of the serving window but I do like the white kitchen even though it's old. It's like a blank canvas waiting to be decorated:-) The patio is cool but why does there always have to be a roommate? There's no guarantee that the string lights work, maybe that's why the last tenant left them behind? The roof was scary! I'd be afraid I'd be blown off the edge:-) Lol Regarding the shower door don't feel bad, I would have opened it the wrong way too. I''m an artist not a mechanic:-) I don't go to bars! I hang out with pigeons instead:-)🧚‍♀

Apartment tours are always fun when Cash and Charles work as a team. Some of the renovations in these old buildings are so strange. For $3,900, the third apartment needed laundry ,if not in the apartment then in the building. And that fire escape. Is there supposed to be such a large gap or does it need repair? i would not step out there unless needed in an emergency.

No price mentioned for the first apartment, but the only thing it lacks is laundry. The upstairs occupant will clearly have to pay twice what the downstairs one does! The second apartment legally has only two bedrooms, so that's $3,000 apiece for sharing. But that's cheaper than $3,900 for the one-bedroom. I do wonder about a building that has an exterminator come once a month.

Almost every building I've lived in in NYC does provide exterminator services. It's your choice of you want to use them or not. You're not getting charged extra when the landlord provides it

@@653j521 here we have annual questionnaires sent by the city about window guards & protective stove nobs for children & also tracking lead paint (mainly for the older buildings since lead was present in paint back in the day). For subsidized apartments (like section 8) yes there are annual inspections but on other places no & this would only apply to buildings, not private homes
