Qué gran video. Andrea Motis, por la que siento enorme admiración y una especial debilidad, para mi es claramente una indiscutible figura del mundial del Jazz. He tenido el inmenso placer de verla en directo hace menos de 48 horas en el fantástico Palau de la Musica de Barcelona, como "invitada" de la Sant Andreu Jazz Band. También estaban Rita Payés, Élia Bastida, Carme Canela, Joan Martí ... Inolvidable para mí. También pude, al acabar el concierto, saludar y charlar brevemente con Chamorro y Élia. Quizá algún día pueda hacer lo mismo con Andrea. La Camerata Papageno es un excelente grupo, ya he visto varios videos suyos, muy versátiles, lo mismo tocan música clásica que jazz y siempre a altísimo nivel. El multifacético Mallinger, esta vez al violín, en su línea de siempre, todo lo hace bien.

I love how at 4:21 Andrea sneaks a wink at Christoph. This is gorgeous, lush and very cinematic. Not at all what I expected from the teaser. The approach, the arrangement reminds me of a Windham Hill recording. Nicely done everyone - that ending could go on for another five minutes! Me encanta cómo a las 4:21 Andrea le guiña un ojo a Christoph. Esto es hermoso, exuberante y muy cinematográfico. Para nada lo que esperaba del teaser. I had the immense pleasure of seeing her live less than 48 hours ago at the fantastic Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, as a "guest" of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band. There were also Rita Payés, Élia Bastida, Carme Canela, Joan Martí... Unforgettable for me. I was also able, at the end of the concert, to greet and chat briefly with Chamorro and Élia. Maybe one day I can do the same with Andrea. Camerata Papageno is an excellent group, I have already seen several of their videos, very versatile, they play classical music as well as jazz and always at a very high level. The multifaceted Mallinger, this time on the violin, in his usual style, does everything well.

I get emotional thinking about the remarkable events making this video possible. Joan Chamorro as seer who spins young Barcelona musicians into genius jazz interpreters of the American songbook, Andrea as a gangly kid who becomes his most outstanding pupil as brass jazz player and vocalist and who appears more lovely here than i have ever seen her, a superb collection of musicians who gather in a studio for a remarkable videographer and sound crew to capture and show us the scene as if we were there. Also, if you haven't hear it, take a listen to "El Carnaval," this is another fantastic arrangement from Mr. Dannemann. He dropped the sweet potato flute, which is very Folkish, and goes in a much more Classical direction, but he also incorporates all kinds of Jazz influences. The use the of staccato, pizzicato, polyrhythm, syncopation and rounding (is that the correct use of the term? Perhaps canon is more correct) is at once very sophisticated and high-spirited.
