ultimate squid I was once walking home from school & I saw a service doggo that was assisting a blind woman. There was a HUGE sticker that said DO NOT PET. And this one boy that looked about 11 fan up to pet it without minding the stickers on the harness. I actually went up to the kid and pointed out the stickers and he left it alone after that. I felt wildly accomplished.

Tbh the only time i ask to pet a service doggo is when everyones sitting down an don their phones and the doggo is like laying down on the ground..or if i feel like I wouldn’t disturb them...and i still feel super guilty about asking to pet them.

I was told/ I understand that a dog is a dog that is trained to provide services to someone, but they do have to go through the appropriate training and be certified. Unless you are a certified service dog trainer, if you (the owner) “trains” the dog then it is considered a emotional support animal.

I hope you told your dentist he needed to read the ADA laws because he just violated a Federal law. As I have written before in other posts, it always amazes me the people in the medical / dental field who know absolutely nothing about the ADA law. And their receptionists in those medical / dental offices that violate the ADA and HIPPA laws when they start asking you private health information because ofyour Service Dog. Questions that would NEVER be asked in a public area of their offices of another patient because they know it’s a HIPPA violation. But as soon as they see a Service Dog they forget all their training about HIPPA violations. We need to remind them they are violating BOTH sets of laws when this happens. HIPPA violations can cause people to lose their license.

Karen Ann McMillan oh trust me, not only I reported him to the DOJ, I also mailed him copies of the law, and cited jurisprudence to have additional back up. I even found a dentistry journal online that discusses exactly how he must let my SD in. I've been advised I can take him to federal court, but I want to see his reaction with all of this first.

Ok, so I’m fairly new to the Service Dog world, I have epilepsy now after an allergic reaction to Tramadol just before Christmas in 2012. (If you’ve read this before and are tired of hearing it, just know I’m hoping to prevent others the same fate) Just got my Service Dog in Training about a week ago. But I’m also a 60 year old female, so I feel I may have some more life experience than others just because I’ve been around a LOT longer LOL. What I have noticed is that a majority of the Vlogs are done by young ladies. Sadly, some women are just hell bent on tearing other women down. Or they will do things that undermine you and then tell the world “I was only trying to help!” Well, women should support women, life is tough enough as a woman without women being at each other’s throats. Then to have a disability (or two) makes it even more difficult. I saw someone post on Reddit recently that Janaye was a faker (Service Dog Colt). Don’t know if any of you follow her. This woman had a Traumatic Brain Injury. If the “women” who posted Reddit had bothered to do just a little research they would easily have found pictures of Janaye with a shaved skull and a fresh incision the size of a large horseshoe from her brain surgery. So we need to be kind to each other. Don’t be too quick to jump to conclusions. And don’t be like those other women on that Reddit post, don’t be a lemming. Don’t follow blindly. Use the heart and brains God gave you. It only takes a few minutes to do your own research. Or just don’t judge people too quickly, just like people with hidden disabilities get judged and accused of faking.

Main Street Boxer I don't usually comment on videos of fake service dogs, because I do not call them out, I don't cheer people on when others do. I'm certainly not cheering on Lexi for pointing out fakes. I was replying to the fact Dakota is obviously a real service dog in training who doesn't need to prove herself to others if she is truly a real sdit team. She has answered both questions you can ask to see if a service dog is real, she even became more personal about it and explained her situation. No one should have to.

I'm all for trained service dogs coming into places of business that serve/sell food. My issue is with untrained dogs and other so called "service aniamals" coming into these businesses, barking, jumping, pissing/shitting everywhere out of excitement or fear. People are totally taking advantage and abusing their pets for their own selfish amusement. It's really disgusting.

Fork Nuggets Not to be rude, but there's no such thing as a guardians dog getting pregnant "on accident". If the dog isn't spayed and she's around male dogs who aren't neutered then there's a damn good chance she's going to get pregnant. It's up to the guardian to be responsible and take steps to ensure their dog doesn't get pregnant. (i.e. get the dog spayed) Not to be there bearer of bad news (but rather to inform you, and put things in perspective), I know you said you're happy that she had puppies; but statistically only 20-30% of those adorable little puppies will ever make it to adulthood. (And even fewer will make it to their life expectancy.) The reasons are not only due to "natural" health problems, but also because statistically there's a high chance that a few will end up in an animal shelter at some point in their life. (And only about 50% of dogs who enter shelters ever make it out alive. 😢) Here's a startling and depressing fact: One unspayed female dog, her mate, and all of their offspring, plus their offsprings puppies, if none are spayed or neutered can reproduce: 1 Year: 16 Dogs 2 Years: 128 Dogs 3 Years: 512 Dogs 4 Years: 2048 Dogs 5 Years: 12,288 Dogs 6 Years: 67,000 Dogs SOURCE: Spay USA The terrible reality is that MILLIONS of healthy, adoptable dogs (and even more cats) are euthanized in shelters every year in the U.S. because of the overpopulation problem. It's truly an epidemic! I implore you to talk to your Mom about getting her dog spayed, along with ALL of her puppies and the dog who fathered the litter, If it's her dog. If you're in the U.S. and she needs help finding resources in her community to help pay for everyone to be altered (if she can't afford to get everyone spayed & neutered), please let me know and I'd be happy to assist. If she does need help, just reply to this comment with your zip code and what breed the dogs are. Additionally, if you need help finding forever homes for any of the puppies I can also help you locate some animal rescue organizations who may be able to help. GOOD LUCK with everything! I'm here if you have any questilns or if your Mom needs any help.

Might I suggest finding a healthier treat for your sweet gal? I don't think goldfish crackers are really the best option- they're absolutely packed with salt, which can be very bad for dogs, and leads to salt poisoning or dehydration. That might be why she was super thirsty later on in the video, as I'm sure she ingested a lot of them from all that training. It also contains a good amount of onion, which is very toxic for dogs. Small pieces of cooked chicken, baby carrots, apple slices, blueberries and blackberries are much safer alternatives, and actually quite healthy for them too

Goldfish wouldn't be good for treats as it has a lot of salt. Dogs shouldn't have nearly as much salt as humans. unless it was goldfish specifically made to be dog treats without the salt. I would reccomend either a cheeses stick (cut into small prices) or regular dog treats such as lung and liver (my Service dogs favorites) but because they both are high in protein which doesnt turn to sugar when eaten by dogs and its good for brain health. But dogs aren't supposed to have as much salt as humans If any. It causes them to get dehydrated which isn't good for there bodies. And like humans they can get salt Posening If given to much and they get it faster then humans. So for a SD especially here working on tasks and stuffs for treats, salty foods aren't healthy. SDs get way more treats then regular pets.

Officially Lydia's Life some dog food has more salt then goldfish. It’s not bad because goldfish are treats, and if not abused, they will be fine
@OfficiallyLydiasLife
@OfficiallyLydiasLife 6 жыл бұрын
Asher Simpson, Lol well most dog food has some salt.. However, you need to make sure it's a limit amount of salt. But I make my own dog treats (Unless I buy the ones I mentioned) because of the fact that manufactured ones aren't always actually pet safe.. So many dogs do get sick from store bought things.. But just like human food, just because it's manufactured for dogs, doesn't mean it's healthy for them. And the salt they put in dog food is based on how much is healthy for a dog to eat. (If it's a good brand) Salt is actually healthy because it does help to keep the balance of fluids in bodies, specifically in your cells in order, and it does the same thing for dogs. Salt also helps your nerves to function and transmit their signals properly. However again the dog food that has salt in it bases it on how much is healthy. if you give cheese crackers as treats (Espucally Dearing a training session where u are treating a lot, like here) then no it is not healthy and can cause salt positing which dogs can get much easier then humans can. There bodies can't eat as much salt as we can. But if salt is in treats AND dog food then it's really easy to accidently over do it. Because dog food was made based on what's healthy. Although again, even then not all dog food was made healthy which is why u should go with a trusted brand u have researched or a vet recommendation. Plus typically if you give your dog a salty treat at home most dogs will go get a huge drink of water right after from being thirsty. However when you are doing a training session in PA they can't really do that. Yes after u leave the store they can but if u are giving them a lot of salt before that then they keep getting more and more dehydrated. (And idk if she was using salty treats or not, but in this video there obviously was no water dish out) But Eating too much salt can make your dog seriously thirsty.... Symptoms of too much salt include vomiting, diarrhea, depression, tremors, high temperature, and seizures. It may even cause death... However dogs need SOME salt but again, if there dog food already comes with it portend out, and it's a good brand, then they don't need extra salt in treats. That's over doing it.

Lexi - THIS was a useful video! Good job demonstrating what Dakota does for you and showing some of the details on her training. The first thing I noticed was the loose leash on a simple slip collar - no pulling or straining for reassurance on Dakota's part! Next, I liked that you showed that she tasks WITHOUT a treat as a lure. There's no harm in working with food to train task work, and certainly reinforcing it with treats during practice is great too, but every so often you need to do it without a treat to be sure that she's going to alert when push comes to shove in the real world, and you did that! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you were extremely focused on your dog in this video - I could see the hard work that you have put into her! You were hanging with a friend, but neither of you got in the way of Dakota's training. Dakota looked MUCH more relaxed in this video as well, and I could see that she is enjoying her work. Great job! :)

Wow, it's amazing how a Siberian husky was trained to be a service dog, my family has always had sled dogs, and generally, Siberian huskies are very smart, but they don't retain information. I don't know why but I love your dog, and this is the first video I've watched!
@AlphaTengua
@AlphaTengua 6 жыл бұрын
They don't retain information? This is extremely incorrect. I once went 1-2 weeks without getting to do much severe training on my dog ( he still got walks and let out and stuff.) and was able to pick back up training from where we left off and he had remembered the routine and everything. SOMETIMES , when he's in the mood, he'll do the routine 1 second before i order him to, cuz he KNOWS its coming and im about to say it. "la-- *doggo lays down and looks up at me O3O i did the goods dad! im on it. im in top form!" me: yeah xD lay u know this good bro *patapat* but, as cool and respectful that is, it also needs to be worked on cuz despite it being a routine and he's just remembering/following it he also needs to know to do stuff only when i tell him. Or it makes them think they decide when and where aka in charge. so i work on this as well. and he gets most things pretty quick. The only downside is sometimes he's just wired bouncing off the walls and adhd (i swear). My sister left the gate open when i had him out cuz she "forgot" he was out ( i give him some time to just cut loose run around and be a dog and have fun). (i only used the bathroom for a few seconds fyi) and he was running around loose (loose huskers are NOT fun) ..well, he DID come when i call them But oh just my luck FUCKING BUTTERFLY spazzed and chased it all the way deep into the woods and i had to rush ram through thorny thickets lol, then he chased a deer.. after almost coming back again.*facepalms* That's really the only major thing he's bad about, and toy/treat guarding. (which was caused by the other dogs trying to steal his shit and being bullied as a puppy.) both being worked on and improving slowly. There's other "proofs" of his "good memory". Like remembering where i would feed him in mornings when he was a pupper despite me having moved the bowl for awhile and everything (not finding it via scent or watching me)

Some people believe it’s an old wives tale, but it’s 100% true. Dogs head being out the window while driving is the number one cause of cataract issues. Which is really sad, cause we all know dogs love having their heads out the window. But really, it’s only a problem if driving over 30mph. Hmmm... 🤔 Maybe it was 25mph. Either way. Didn’t know if you were aware. And can’t tell how fast you were driving, so it may be a nonissue anyway. There are days I wish I could let my dog have his head out cause I know he’d love it. There are people who lie about having a service dog. KZbin is filled with hours/days/years of fake service dog video material. Even when you add the benefit of doubt, some "service dogs" that bark uncontrollably, get petted while the handler encourages others to do so, are so badly trained or used, you can be almost 99% certain they're fake.
@tarananajaika
@tarananajaika 6 жыл бұрын
Heidi Willard But those are controlled barks and usually directed at the handler. The dog will stop barking when the handler gets medication or lays down for an oncoming seizure. I know some people wanted their dog to bark continually while they're "out" to get people to help but trainers usually refuse to train that because medics might be afraid to get near you with a barking dog and in the worst case it gets shot to get to you. So, there is a difference between a pet barking uncontrollably at other dogs/bystanders/umbrellas/anything else and service dogs who alert their owners directly.

Great! :-) How about that: If you see another comment where you know something about the topic don't scream "Wrong again" but tell the other person what you actually know. My first comment clearly stated "bark uncontrollably" and it would have been possible for you to come to the conclusion that there is something of an "controllable bark" which would be something service dogs use. If you came to another conclusion, you could have educated me and the next person who saw the comment. Thank you.

Stella Rahaim Dakota is Not ready for off leash "training". She is distracted, non-responsive and bored at certain points and at others, her body language screams that she's distressed and Lexi glosses over it and continues to push Dakota in situations that Dakota's not ready for, and that's just sad for Lexi and Tragic for Dakota. None of the people giving overly positive comments seem to know Anything about true dog training, psycology and theory. Much less Service Dog training. The public holds Service Dog Teams to an Extremely High standard, which Dakota is No Where Near. Lexi and her friends can sure spout criticism of other handlers, when they're being hypocritical and snotty, throwing attitude, acting like they're superior and puting catchy click bait titles on their videos for KZbin views. It's tacky and sickening to see what she's doing to that dog for KZbin fans and adoring teens everywhere. If anyone does not understand dog psychology, learning theory and behavior, how can they justify slapping a vest on their pet and claiming it's a service dog? Lexi stated in a previous video that Dakota wasn't trained but that she "...needed her so... yeah, whatever". God help us all. Dakota is reactive, distracted and obviously not ready for public access. Lexi doesn't show Dakota passing the Basic Pet Canine Good Citizen test much less the Canine Good Citizen Advanced before parading Dakota in public and throwing attitude to Everyone she comes across. I doubt Dakota's even been through a basic obedience course, based on her behavior. She is aggressive and reactive and doesn't listen to Lexi in her videos. I'm Not a hater. I don't Hate anyone. I have no time or energy for that kind of drama. I've trained dogs for over 30 Years and have trained Service Dogs for 19 Years. I've washed dogs who routinely showed the same issues Dakota has. Lexi's not even trying to get professional training Or Accept Guidance from people who know what they're doing, and obviously doesn't even truly understand basic K9 body language. Lexi needs to remove Dakota from public access before there's a serious and dangerous problem that gets her sued and someone injured.

This may be EXTREMELY personal to you, but I do have 1 question. I apologize in advance of i sound ignorant I rude... so yeah, im sorry. Question: "do you still have a service dog during classes at school? Or do you have a special to-the-side teacher for you? Again, i am VERY VERY sorry if it is too sensitive to you😯 But I do still love your videos!😊 I may not have any disabilities, but I do know people come off incociderate about questions like these, i was only curious! 😊 Have a nice day/night!😁
