WHENEVER I THINK ABOUT ABANDONED HOTELS OR TRAINS, I CAN’T HELP BUT THINK ABOUT THE MOVIE, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. NOT ONLY WAS IT AN AMAZING MOVIE, IN MY OPINION, BUT IT BROUGHT ABOUT THE IDEA THAT THERE ARE HOTELS OUT THERE THAT WERE ONCE PART OF THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE, BUT ARE NOW EITHER ABANDONED OR NEARLY VACANT ALL OF THE TIME. THAT IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE STORY OF THE IZAAK WALTON INN WHICH IS LOCATED IN ESSEX, MONTANA. IT’S CLOSE TO GLACIER NATIONAL PARK,WHICH WAS A BOOMING TOWN IN 1939. THERE WERE TWO MAIN ENTRANCES TO THE PARK VIA THE GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY. BECAUSE THEY KNEW THAT TOURISTS WOULD SOON BE VISITING, ALONG WITH AN INFLUX IN RAIL WORKERS, THE IZAAK WALTON INN OPENED ITS DOORS. THE HOTEL OFFERED MODERN DETAILS IN EACH OF THEIR 29 ROOMS. IT ALSO HAD 10 BATHROOMS, A LOBBY, A DINING ROOM, AND A KITCHEN WITH A 2-TON STOVE! AS THEY WERE ABOUT TO BUILD A THIRD ENTRANCE INTO GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, THE UNITED STATES WENT TO FIGHT WORLD WAR II AND THEN THERE WAS THE BOMBING OF PEARL HARBOR IN 1941. THEY DECIDED TO PUT THE NEW PARK ENTRANCE ON HOLD, AND NOTHING WAS EVER MADE OF IT. THIS LEFT THE INN VACANT, BUT THEY CONTINUED TO OPERATE ON A MUCH SMALLER SCALE. LUCKILY FOR THEM, THIS MADE THE INN VERY SUCCESSFUL. KNOWN FOR ITS WARM STAFF AND COZY ROOMS, THE INN ATTRACTED OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS, ALONG WITH SKIERS. THEY ENJOYED THE PEACEFULNESS OF THE HOTEL, AND BECAUSE OF THIS THE IZAAK WALTON INN BECAME ONE OF MONTANA’S BEST RECREATIONAL SECRETS. THE HOTEL IS STILL THRIVING, BUT THEY ADDED A FEW UNUSUAL OFFERINGS TO THEIR RESERVATION MENU.

The Tamaracouta Scout Reserve boy-scout camp in Canada has 6 vintage cabooses that were converted into camp cabins. It's called the "Snowball Express" and the cabooses, rails and installation were donated by the Canadian National Railway (CN) back in the 70's.

Back in the late 1970's, the Milwaukee Rail Road was selling all their cabooses (in Chicagoland) for $500 each. My. Dad, a MRR engineer, wanted to buy one but transporting it the seven miles from the rail road yard to our one acre property seemed too big of a pain for him. Looking back, I wish he would have gone ahead with it. My brothers and I still own the same property even today.

Well, they certainly haven't done there research for this. Isakk Walton hotel was a Great Northern railway crew dormitory and chow hall. My research into the third entrance at Essex, Mt to Glacier National Park wasn't even proposed--simple rumor. True it is a train spotters paradise, it can be very noisy 3-4 locomotives idling while the helper crew wait for trains to push over Maria's Pass. Busy times can have 40 trains a day at all hours. An Amtrak train each day one east and one west. It has been fixed up since I first stopped there in 1967, it was pretty run down and little used due to the demise of the steam train and when I stopped there in summer of 2017 it was pretty nice in appearance with added train cabooses and a pedestrian over pass across the switch yard.I used to stop there for a treat in the 90's for mud pie or rum cake at the restaurant.

I , , , . , , , , ,.. . , ,, , , ,. , ., , ,,, , , , a guys who lived in Simi Valley in the knolls, and he had a train box car on a place where you had to wonder how they got it there. I helped him build a bed and some kitchen cabinets it was 6 or7 feet wide and 40 or 50 feet long it was set up like with a sliding door near the front on the side It started with the bed a tiny table couple of chairs than a kitchen area a little space after. that to get dressed than in the last 10 feet or so was walled off with a door and the whole room was tiled with shower heads like 3 of them the floor was tiled to with a drain right in the middle of that room .He also had a girl friend Anna. She was a looker. I know Marty got shot in the head doing something stupit. But I digress .The place was not bad It was owned by H.A. Bill a hack of a. nice guy wonder it anyone out there knew the same. .

So ... yeah ... as a Montanan, I would offer one quick but important correction. You state in the narrative at about 3:05 that after you are done fishing in Glacier National Park, "imagine preparing your daily catch here." And then imagine being served with a heavy fine. Fishing in Glacier National Park is catch-and-release only. Enjoy the scenery. Enjoy fishing even. But make sure you put them all back.

The Train did not abandon me. The Truth is the Father John Sanchez abandoned me when I was a baby. He left me in a hospital after I was bashed up and I was suffering from starvation. I had a bruised face and my body was black and blue. He is no father to me. I hate him. The Train is my Dad who saved me and adopted me from the age of two. My Dad is in heaven. Bless him. A wonderful Father he was. He adored me. Loved me and cared for me. Brought me up in a clean safe environment. Gave me the best. I will always be Bray. I am proud of my Name. He is my only One Dad.
