You are right they will want to be protecting each other and their identities, but if Nathalie hadn’t seen Adrien transform into Cat Noir, Gabriel wouldn’t have known that his son was Cat Noir, so he took advantage of it because he knew that Miraculous was closer than he thought. If you think about it, if Gabriel didn't force Marinette to end the relationship, they would be happy as we could see in some moments of the episode. So we will have to wait for more episodes to see more Adrienette moments.
