So I was unfortunate in that I carried my best friend and brother's coffin into the church to this song and being one who is finally starting to get the hang of the ukulele I wanted, no, I needed to learn this song and hearing you sing the song at the end damn near had me bawling my eyes out. I'm sorry that whole sentence was a garbled mess but half way through I could keep up with you. That's more than I've ever managed when it comes to finger picking. Now I just need to learn how to sing and I'll have this one down. Thank you Cory and rest in peace AJ we miss you down here brother I'll master this one for you!

Hello - just wondering (when finger picking @ 7:40 - if you’re just picking strings 4 and 2 why are you on the C cord (it’s not being picked).
@bhaveerathod23734 жыл бұрын
9:21, I’m a bit confused here because why do we hold our fingers on the fret of c major when we aren’t even plucking that string? Wonderful tutorial by the way, just confused a bit
@CoryTeachesMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hi! It’s not necessary but it’s to keep the progression pattern.

Whats rhe use of picking the 4th and 2nd strings while you are playing a C chord? Its equal to not using C then?
@CoryTeachesMusic4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you can definitely just drop the C chord in the left when picking but I find that it is easier to just do it so you don’t get messed up in the progression.

I have a question when you put your fingers on the string do you got to press Hard cuz when i do it it doesnt give a good sound and it gets very strong i need help whith how you put your fingers correctly please i relly want to play this song i tried so much tutorials but no one helpped
@CoryTeachesMusic5 жыл бұрын
Yes. When making chords you do need to press/squeeze hard in order to make a new sound. When your use your fingers to make a chord, you are actually shortening the string length which changes the pitch and that’s how the chords are made. You do not, however, need to strum or pluck that hard. That can be much softer than you think.
@dalduhoky93533 жыл бұрын
I have a question what is the point of plucking for the C chord? I mean can't we pluck without holding C down since its either on the 4th string nor the 2nd...
@CoryTeachesMusic3 жыл бұрын
It’s just for keeping the progression or incase you accidentally pluck a string that it not supposed to be plucked. That way, you can still play a pitch that is in the chord.

What ukulele do you have because I would love to get a better one but I have no clue which to get? Xx

The one I use most often is a Sawtooth concert ukulele. When I bought it it was on sale on Amazon for like $50 which was awesome! Even though I have more expensive ukes, it’s the one I reach for the most often!

It is a Sawtooth concert ukulele. I bought mine on Amazon. It wasn’t too pricey either. I believe I got mine on sale for about $50. I actually use it more often that I do my more expensive ukuleles.

Why hold the C cord while picking string 4 and 2?
@CoryTeachesMusic10 ай бұрын
It keeps the pitches in the correct chord in case you accidentally pluck the wrong string.
@Ricksta91710 ай бұрын
@CoryTeachesMusic okay cool, thanks Cory🙂

Good tutorial but that D chord seemed off from all the other tutorials out there, I know there are different alternatives for finger placements sometimes but that seemed interesting to me.
@CoryTeachesMusic4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the D minor chord?
@sydney61294 жыл бұрын
Cory Teaches Music yes, also been working all night on the pricking pattern, it’s getting better but you definitely make it look easy😂
@CoryTeachesMusic4 жыл бұрын
I’m glad you are working on it! As far as the D minor chord goes there are other ways to create the D minor chord, but in my experience the way I presented it is the easiest and most widely Used. Best of luck with the song! Let me know if I can help in any other way!

Cory Teaches Music omg please ignore me the whole time I was thinking D major 😬🤦🏻♀️ this makes much more sense now! 😂

I totally understand. It can be confusing in regards to chord quality (Major, minor, etc). I definitely struggled with it when I started out ☺️

Why do we need to hold the c chord even when we're not playing that string?
@CoryTeachesMusic4 жыл бұрын
It’s good for practice to keep the progression. That way incase you hit another string on accident it won’t sound weird within the chord.
