Hi. my name is Alex and I have autism. I'm learning to play the ukulele. have a hard time learning new things. but you make it not only fun but also easy to learn. both with and without autism. i have searched all over the internet can not find a single good video that can help me learn cowboys and angels with dustin lynch. it's my favorite song and I really want to learn to play it. would really like you to be able to help me and maybe make a video like this. pretty please would mean everything to me
@ukeplayalongs3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex! Thanks for your note. There is a Tricider link in the description of the video, and you can add the request to the Tricider. This channel is 100% volunteer work (ad revenue goes to Google and the copyright holder, not to the video creator), so I have to be very careful about how I approach play along videos as each takes about 6 hours to make (including the different versions and tutorial on the other channel). After songs are requested, I have to make sure they are appropriate for public use (e.g. in schools or community groups) and then balance requests with other songs I want to make, or those that I need to make (songs in the Top 40). What's hard is that people always want play alongs of their favorite songs, but there's not time to make them all, and everyone thinks their song is the best. But...get the request in the Tricider, and we'll see what happens!
@ukeplayalongs3 жыл бұрын
Alex...did you notice I published Cowboys and Angels for you last week? I don't normally try to fulfill requests like that...but that one was specially made for you. I hope it helps!

I am trying to learn how to play these sing alongs. But I need 1st time signature. Then suggested strum pattern, picking pattern. A suggestion to include other new people like me trying to learn.
@ukeplayalongs2 жыл бұрын
This is going to come off, I am afraid, as a rude response, but I have to be as straightforward as possible. 1) While you mention what you need as a learner, these videos are actually created to be used by school teachers in classroom settings, giving the teacher the right to cover whatever they want to cover without the video mandating it. You are absolutely welcome to use these, but the purpose was never focused on the individual player/learner on their own. It is wonderful that they can be used that way. 2) Most of the ukulele resources I know of, other than those by music publishers, such as the Daily Ukulele by Jim Beloff, do not mention time signatures; nor do any of the play alongs that I know of. It’s information that would have to be presented at the start of a video when there is already a more pressing matter, such as what chords you need to know to play the song, and as the majority of the songs are in 4/4 time, there isn’t much to say. 3) I do know a few creators that include a strumming pattern in their videos, but I choose not to for a few reasons. First, there is no singular “right” answer. People get caught up in having a “right” strumming pattern, but really, any pattern that fits the music and is at the right tempo is correct. Additionally, as with point #1, this also gives the classroom teacher the right to teach a pattern (or not). I almost never teach.a strumming pattern for a song. 4) For those people who cannot figure out a strumming pattern on their own, I include a tutorial for each new video. I’ve been doing this for a few years now, and this video does have one. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2m6lZikoZ2Vepo It is linked in the description. Granted, this was an early tutorial and I have lost over 140 pounds (!) since I recorded it. But the material itself is accurate to the video.’ So, with all of those aspects, the one request that remains would be offering a starting time signature, which, if you needed it, you could discern from the strumming pattern that is suggested in the tutorial video…so it probably isn’t needed. I do appreciate the feedback, and I read every comment. I make mistakes from time to time; and some people don’t agree with the chords that chords I hear on some songs (I trust my training in music theory including my doctorate and experience in music). Nonetheless, these videos are a free resource, and they generate no income, as the music is copyrighted and remains in the domain of the copyright holder (as well as all ad revenue is shared by KZbin and the copyright holder). I do make a very small amount ($30 a month) on my tutorial & review channel…but this is all a hobby, and each video (with a tutorial) takes about 6 hours to create, upload, and tag for release. It is one of the lowest paying jobs in the USA. While it would be nice if the copyright holders shared some part of the revenue, I take pride in providing quality educational material for other teachers and their students, and to the ukulele world as a whole. With over 600 different songs created, and having taught well over 1000 students how to play the ukulele, I’m pretty comfortable in the product I create and how it can be used. So, hopefully that all helps you to know more about the process, as well as where to find more information if you need it on any video that was created over the past few years. Thank you again for taking the time to send in a suggestion!

What I was saying is that some songs translate really well to ukulele. Other songs may not...but they can certainly still be played on ukulele. For some other really good songs that work on ukulele, check out Lost Boy, Hey There Delilah, and Perfect!
