The production on this video is fantastic! Your progress and plant selection mimics my own and I am excited to see what you do going forward. Great work on these videos and in your garden!

Thank you so much! I do enjoy putting more time into the videos when I can. Our backyard is going to look quite different in a few years. I hope you have great success in your own garden!

Why not use the trellis of your deck for vines like cucumber , grapes , beans
@SomeRoomtoGrow3 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what we plan to do once we get the deck rebuilt! It may happen rather soon now that material costs are going down again.

I love your Food Forest play list. It should be very inspiring for people who are unsure, if they would be able to do it, if they have enough space, etc. Also good to see, what to expect in the first few years. For the future canopy layer I'd maybe research Walnuts - I know there are at least "English" Walnut (Juglans regia) varietes that stay smaler than the species (snd so smaler that that Maple monster 🙃) And the "Trellis for the vines" -thing: you have a deck with a railing - instant trellis 😉 perfect for wine or hardy kiwi. I'm experimenting with sowing white clover into the walkways. In another spot I left violet in the pathway. Both seems to work nice so far. But it is a path I don't have to use very often. But you can walk on it, and/or cut it back and mulch with it, so might be worth trying out. Plant some pumpkins in the spot in the back, where you can not really start - the leaves are edible so even if you don't get to the harvest the pumpkins stage, because of that sewer project thing, it will do you some good in the meantime.

oh. NOW I notice the video is from August LAST year. So, nevermind the pumkins 😂

You could plant dwarf fruit trees multi grafted, then put citrus trees in grow bags and place them above around the ground trees
@marioatc3 жыл бұрын
As you water the citrus excess water and fertilizer will be absorb by the ground trees
@SomeRoomtoGrow3 жыл бұрын
That’s true, multi-grafted trees would give us more variety. That’s a good idea with the citrus, but they’re not hardy enough for our area (5b). We would have to bring them inside over winter and we don’t have space for that.
@marioatc3 жыл бұрын
You can still grow other hardy fruit in containers to free up space in the ground.
