"That girl" was songwriter Shari Sheeley, Eddie Cochran's fiancé. The guitar is a 6120 Gretsch. She was from Laguna Beach, California, and engineered a friendship with Ricky Nelson, who lived nearby, by writing "Poor Little Fool" for him, which became a hit. The object of the friendship was the hope that she could get Ricky's help to meet her idol, Eddie Cochran. She also became friends of the Everly Brothers with the same object in mind; Eddie. Eddie & the Everly's were booked on the same tour, and she was with the Everly's in their hotel, chatting with them when the door swung open, and there he was, her idol. If a girl wants you bad enough, look out!! she'll get you. They were to fly home to California together after the first leg of Eddie's tour through England, but their plans all ended when their hired car lost control and slammed into a light standard, ending Eddie's life. Shari had serious injuries, but she and Eddie's tourmate, Gene Vincent, survived. Shari, and Eddie's brother Bob, wrote this song - "Somethin' Else'. I was privileged, as a teenager to witness Eddie in action on stage. He was dynamic.

*something else et Eddie Cochran ont fait naitre le rock ans roll le plus pur et le plus sauvage !! Cochran ete a la music ce que James Dean ete au cinéma...tout deux partie trop tôt deux légende pour l éternité a tout jamais*

Thank you Graham. I got to see Eddie the fall of 1959, in my home town in Miles City, Montana. It was at an Eagles club on a week night. They needed a place to play to fill up the schedule and pick up some expense money. We visited with Eddie and still remember that big orange Gretsch. Eddie was wearing the shoes with the clips that closed them up. He wore them open like the shot in the video.

@@bigsbyslur Many thanks for taking the time to reply. You were so fortunate to see Eddie in his prime and I really envy you that. Even though it's such a long time ago it is obviously something indelled in your memory!

@@bigsbyslur We must have seen him on the same tour! I went to his show in Williston, North Dakota, at the new National Guard armory there. His show almost blew the roof off. I was only 13, and snuck in the back way. I was stuck in the crush of big bodies & couldn't breathe, so I got down on the floor and crawled all the way up, between legs, to get to the very edge of the stage, where I found a place where there was room. The shoe brand was "Shulock Snap Jack." I remember he wore those, too. He was scheduled for October 3rd, his birthday, but he became 'indisposed'. Freeman Hover, who put on the show & worked as a DJ at KEYZ in Williston, said that the make-up show we saw was on Oct. 24, 1959, a Saturday night.

I was thinking November of 1959. It was a week night....probably after you saw him. There were only about 100 of us there, so we got to talk with him quite a bit. We also talked to the manager. I remember his manager telling us, "It's the beat". @@robotnik77
