I can do it in a paragraph. Shadow was a hedgehog created by Dr. Eggman’s grandfather to help cure his granddaughter Maria’s disease, but not without consequence. Shadow is then deemed as illegal by the space government and he has to escape, and Maria helps him do so, but she sadly doesn’t make it. Then, Eggman’s grandpa gets executed because he made a threat to bomb the Earth and almost did. 50 years later, Shadow must find his true purpose in life, despite being just an experiment that can never die. He then redeems himself by teaming up with Sonic the Hedgehog after a bunch of prior shenanigans to shut off the bomb destined to hit the planet below space.

I love how much of a non-issue the clones actually turned out to be, both in this short and lore-wise. Like, Rouge spends the entire ending of Heroes worrying that he'll have a crisis, but in his own game Shadow experiences a single level of conniptions about it and then instantly recovers and kills space satan.

Well, there are some endings where Shadow becomes convinced he's an android. It's just that in those endings he decides to start a robot uprising with his buddy Omega and take over the world. Also the Shadow Androids returned in the IDW comics to kill three people so that's neat
