Great content as always. I guess the difference between KD and those other players is that they had the benefit of redemption, by either winning a ring that year or the next. Which is why its forgotten about or swept under the rug. Obviously we don't have that data yet, to know if KD will win next year, but i think with how tough the east is becoming the chances aren't great. If KD does win soon then this series will mean nothing. If he doesn't then its an indication of his decline.

Regular season points per game average - playoff ppg average. The delta says a lot. Those players you mentioned, compared to their regular production all season are closer to 0. Durant had one of the largest negative deltas of those superstars. And honestly he saved it in the 4th game of the sweep. Without out this is the worst by a long shot. With it, I don’t think it’s true but certainly it’s not wild to entertain this as an epic meltdown.

And Durant game 2 had 18 gd free throws . All while not a single game having a positive box +/- in the playoffs. He’s a smart dude maybe I don’t get basketball stats anymore. 10:56 that is an actual question that needs to be answered. Judging by the response, I assume Jimmy believes getting swept in the first round is better than losing in the finals. So not making the playoffs at all would be even better than getting swept in the first round with that logic. So, being the worst team in the league is better than being the second best team in the league? In my opinion, losing early is worse than losing in the finals. Choking either way is bad, but I much rather choke as the second best team in the league than choke as the 16th worst team in the league
@sheyarjames4904
@sheyarjames4904 2 жыл бұрын
I agree, if you choke in the finals or the conference finals it means you did something big before it to carry your team all the way there and that should be a point in your favor, meanwhile if you choke in the first round then...you really did nothing in these playoffs and couldn't win even one series. A choke is a choke regardless of occasion.

Logically, your argument is sound but that’s just not how things work. It shouldn’t be, but that’s how it is. It’s the same reason we praise MJ’s 6-0 record when we all know it’s because he didn’t make it to the finals in 90 and 95. Edit: also the reason why steph blowing a 3-1 lead in the finals was worse than when kd blew a 3-1 lead in the WCF…AGAINST STEPH…..JUST BEFORE THE 2016 FINALS. While I appreciate the analysis I think it's important to mention when players are hobbled by injuries. Wade and Curry were both hurt during their bad playoff series for example. That has to factor into how they played and shouldn't be bunched in with other players who had no injuries holding them back.

For DWade his knees gradually became plastic since the 2012 season and they slowed him down significantly by the 2014 season, him and Bosh were pretty much a glorified role players but the Heat were able to go all the way to the finals because of Lebron's brilliance and the fact that the eastern conference was awful.

Really can't disregard the constant doubling, bumping, hacking, overall amazingly defending KD by half the Celtics having been assigned to guard him that series. We know he's not really sturdy under this onslaught and give him some credit for not giving up and trying to make the best out of it.

I have never seen a team legitimately stop KD, like ever. The Celtics did something I didn’t even think was possible, I’ve watched LeBron get 35 footers shot right over his head. I’ve seen Kobe get fadeaways thrown on him over and over again. Shit I’ve seen literally every build try to stop him, short guys get bullied, big guys can’t keep up, guys that look like him can’t guard his bag. Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum deserve mad props for that defensive performance.

@@neveahphillips5610 Like boxing, style make fight … And the Celtics were the worst matchup possible for KD, their team is built to stop tall/lenghty great shooters, Tatum is literally the perfect defender for KD, he is like 2 inches shorter, but he is also lenghty, younger and more athletic, with amazing lateral speed and deceleration, he is like a taller Jrue Holiday … My favorite player is Lebron and i was happy that KD lost and « choked », because without his weak ass move to the Warriors Lebron would probably have 1-2 more rings and still be a CAVS, but i still love KD because im a basketball fan before everything, and i know it was just the worst matchup for him, just like Lebron in 2011 with Tyson Chandler (2011 DPOY, 7ft 240lbs)+ Dirk, another 7footer and Jason Kidd a Top 5 point guard, 2nd all time in steals and assists … And back then Lebron wasn’t as skilled in term of shooting and even finishing at the rim+ he had all the pressure in the world with the « decision » and then the Big 3 presentation were he said not 3, not 4, not 5 ect … And it was his first season with players he had never played before, chemistry take time to come sometimes … So even young Lebron and KD, 2 of the most complete player ever could/can be stopped, but the post 2015 Lebron is unstoppable, the only player who can stop him is himself, because he is still an athletic beast shooting 73.9% from less than 5ft, and now shoot 35% from 3 (and he take a lot of very deep 3´s this season he was more efficient from the logo than Curry, Lebron shot 37.2% between 25-29ft, 36% between 30-34ft and 100% between 35-39ft, he only took 1 shot from there but still), and he shot 42.4% from midrange and 44.3% with his fadeaway), post 2015 Lebron is unstoppable, he scored the most points ever in a single playoffs run in 2018 while averaging 9assists, 9 rebounds and still able to be an elite defender, even before 2015 when his shot was falling you couldn’t do anything to stop him … So if there is a player that is really unguardable/unstoppable it’s post 2015 Lebron, that 4 years stretch with the CAVS was amazing and i don’t care if he lost to a 73-9 team who added the 2nd best player in the world in his prime … That’s like if Shaq went to the BULLS in 97 after being eliminated by them the year before when they had that legendary 72-10 season, that’s what KD did, imagine Shaq on the BULLS, that’s what KD did that’s why i have a hard time to have compassion for him, he ruined what would have been the greatest rivalry of all time …

@Nino Black Why can't people just accept that those Bulls without Grant weren't beating the Magic that year? Jordan looked like Jordan in some of those L's putting up 40 on over 50% the Bulls just weren't big enough. People wanna make so many excuses for MJ like he's their papi or some gay shit. The next year Jordan didn't play too great vs the Magic either outside of game 4. Game 3 he only had 17 points on 33% shooting. Game 1 he was severely outplayed by Penny. Game 2 he played decent but shot 42%. What made the difference the 2nd time was great team defense and RODMAN. Dude grabbed 6 or more offense rebounds in every game. Dude had a 21 rebound game. Dude would at least give you 10-15 quiet ass 60% or up points to go with that. He made the Bulls capable of beating the Magic so easily in addition to Grants elbow injury...

Every superstar pointed out in this video. Shaq at 06 Kobe at 04, Wade at 14 are not as criticized because at the time they're not the "bus driver". While Lebron at 11 and Curry at 16 when they played not as bad as those 3 but since they're bus drivers they got criticized heavily. I hope the masses finally understand what Chuck meant when he made the comment.

That's why Jordan wouldn't have lasted in today's world. Not that he couldn't keep up talent-wise, because he'd definitely be the best player still nowadays, but the media pressure is what he couldn't handle. It's the reason he almost retired after winning 1 ring. He said that the media was too much and he just wanted to play basketball, not deal with the media (kinda sounds like the KD that we call weak for saying similar statements). He only continued to the 3peat to beat magic and bird, then he retired because of the media and it was a perfect excuse with his father passing. His love for basketball made him return, but the media made him retire twice. So imagine if he lived in a social media world where they will twist your words at everything you say, where they make up drama between teammates, where they criticize superstars every move. MJ wouldn't have stuck around today
