Another thing that most people don't realize is that the demo version of Dream Drop Distance on the 3DS has a few features that didn't make it into the final game, including the ability to climb the ladder leading up to the bell tower in Traverse Town's 2nd District.

This is most definitely an error caused by laziness on behalf of the team in charge of these ports, which we know were rushed out the door, and not an actual conscious decision made to remove/change these textures. The HD collections, and other compilations, are filled with oversights (errors) and other removed/altered assets like these, with the most notable ones being KH2 Duck Flare being unnerfed only in the international release and Ventus’s changed opening Station of Awakening in BBS. And don’t even get me started on all the other problems introduced exclusively in these ports like unmissable attacks suddenly missing, or huge amounts of lag added to actions. If there’s anything to take away from this, it’s that we should be thankful there’s officially multiple teams working on the future of KH now, meaning we won’t have just Osaka juggling between KH3’s development and the perfunctory ports again.

So, as someone who has done graphic design, I can imagine why they're missing. They were made for the 3ds version, and potentially never saved the original higher quality art of it, or even made it FOR that low resolution and didn't WANT it to have a higher quality meaning. As for the SQEX logo, which they obviously have a vector of because who the F doesn't have a vector of their own logo, they decided with the higher quality textures, the logo was too obvious and stood out too much. Thusly, they removed the mickey logo (Which would've taken too much effort to give meaning to the words above it that didn't have meaning), the Square logo (Because they found it jarring to see the IRL logo there in game), and the noize symbol (Likely too because of jarring location)

I'm actually glad you mentioned the camera change. I played the 3ds version demo at SDCC and the camera was so close I couldn't see anything and that actually made me reconsider buying the game, making it the only KH game I didn't play when it came out (aside from the original coded)

I'm not sure if I've seen anyone else bring this up but there was a glitch that could happen on the 3ds version of Ddd where you could have 3 dreameaters out roaming around with you. It has been a couple of years since I last played it on the 3ds so I don't recall the exact method to have it happen but I do remember something about having one of them die and then reviving them like last second while at the same time, as you're reviving them, swapping them out with the 3rd dreameater you have on the bench/standby. I tried doing this on the HD version but it didn't seem to work anymore and I can't do it again on the 3ds version since I was only able to play it due to borrowing it from a friend the year it originally came out.

What's funny is that the other day during this week, I was playing both versions of DDD to see if the drop gauge was slower in the ps4 version and to see a difference in damage output among other minute differences. Turns out in both versions, you deal the same amount of damage if you have the same stats not including drop bonuses. The only exception is young xehanort having smaller health and (maybe) lower defense since I was playing at lv 1. Another difference is that you take less damage in the ps4 version than the original.

I wonder if the speed was altered because on a home console, you are expected to be there for longer seated sessions so it would be bit more fun to not have to "drop" as much when you have momentum in a session vs 3DS where you are more expected short bursts and stuff

My theory is that they removed the Mickey Mouse, Dream Eater, and Square Enix icons because those are meta references to the DDD game itself. Unversed aren't a part of DDD. I like how the Dream Eater logo has letters D and E on its sides.
