A crack in a tooth isn't just a structural problem, it's a biological problem. Cracks become a pathway for bacteria to enter teeth and cause tooth decay (i.e. a cavity).
Often these cracks are ignored for too long, and they can lead to toothaches, enamel fractures, or extensive cavities.
If you have lots of large white fillings or amalgam restorations in your mouth, ask your dentist if they see any cracks in your mouth. Sometimes, they are so superficial that they need not be addressed. But if the dentist can get an instrument inside the crack, it's time to get it filled.

I’ve always had perfect teeth. No cavities and great dental health overall. This is my third year in a row pregnant though and it’s destroying my teeth. My gums have receded badly around my incisors, I have major tooth sensitivity and I suspect a cavity or two in the back. I’m devastated. This channel is reminding me how badly I need to get them taken care of!

A lot of women that are pregnant, have hormonal, imbalances, a lot of women think the babies take calcium from the teeth and it just is not true. If you tend to get a lot of morning sickness and even throw up, that's acidic to the teeth and it could demineralize the tooth structure cause a cavity. You can't brush your teeth right away after you throw up because it's too abrasive to the tooth structure. But you do need to brush your teeth and keep your teeth as clean as possible during pregnancy even when you feel too sick to put that toothbrush in your mouth it's still needs to be done and then as far as your gums go, you could get pregnancy gingivitis because your hormones are all out of whack.

Who's old enough to remember the drills they had back in the 70's? The old metal articulated arm with pulleys on it and a red drive cord around the pulleys from the big electric motor on the pedestal to the actual drill part which had a pulley wheel to drive the drill, it was a slow and very painful experience getting a cavity drilled out, if the dental tech pushed too hard with the drill it would slow right down and sometimes even stop and jam in the hole in your tooth so the dentist had to wiggle it and pull it free, they made the most horrific sound and you could feel the vibrations caused by the abrasive drill bit grinding away at your tooth, the vibrations went right through your brain 😱

Your videos are very amusing. I never hesitate to try the purple wedge first, my assistants know I prefer it. I do sometimes have to switch to the pink one instead. Nice work, I liked the conservative treatment on the distal of the premolar. I usually go ahead and prep a ideal class ii on those but if the caries only went that far and you can preserve your marginal ridge then that is an awesome thing to do. The music was my favorite part. Don't worry, I liked and subscribed

My father did not look after his teeth for the first half of his life. Around age 60 he required a full set of dental implants which cost about $50,000. That's on top of what he paid on other failed dental treatments and living in pain for years. From his mistakes I have learned that oral hygiene is very gravely serious.

When a tooth has been previously filled due to a past cavity, it loses stiffness and flexes more when loaded during chewing. This increase in deformation during bite forces tends to put the tooth at a higher risk of developing cracks! hope this helps!
