Wow, this was great! I've tried to learn this one before but failed. And by the first glance of your video I felt utterly confused and thought that hey, this video is just to quick and confused to be helpful … and then I started playing with you, and for some reason I got it, as I haven't with all the other tutorials I've tried. I don't know, but it might be that you actually PLAY the song … I mean, you're feeling is there, so it doesn't become just technical learning, as with many other tutorials. I love this song, and I felt it with you, and although I still play like crap I can now play it and sing along. Means a million!!!

You may not play it the exact way Paul plays it but it has the same vibe and it's all that matters.

I've loved this song for years and never took time to learn it. There are certainly more complex finger style arrangements out there, but you lay out the basic building blocks in a very easy to learn manner. Thank you.

I started watching this sometime long ago. I do not write often on this stuff. may have left one back then. great lesson but I stopped after intro and first verse. moved off to other songs both covers and my own. came back now. just love your style. that's me, my sarcastic style. we must be related other than everyone is a brother. I will follow the rest as I'm in a Paul S. mood. You're cool

I remember trying to play this song 50 years ago when i was a love struck long haired college kid trying to get into the pants of a girl who would sit and listen in the coed dorm. In those days we had no access to something this. Maybe if we did we could actually get the job done. One of the best guitar teachers I've ever seen dissecting some tricky guitar work. Superb presentation. Thanks!

Hi Dan!! Thank you so much for this lovely song! really wanted to play this song I'm sitting on a it a few hours already I think the long A chord in the introduction is really missing, and even a bit lazy :) you should try and find something to put there, I am trying a E79, which is probably wrong but still a bit more rich
@thatguitardad7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for checking it out. You could very well be right about what I'm doing wrong! Happy playing :)
@jellyfish5017 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't know if wrong is the way to say, just that this song has such an amazing chord flow, and most of it is a already a bit difficult so I don't see a reason to be "lazy" on that one specific bar :) Anyway the video really helped me a lot, and was fun

Thanks for sharing. I first learned it from sheet music (for piano) and it wasn’t quite right. I dropped it one key so I could sing it. What model Taylor are you playing? I have a 710 built in 1985. Great neck but huge body
@thatguitardad5 жыл бұрын
That's a 314ce -- the x14 shape has a narrower waist than the x10 bodies so it's a little more comfortable to sit and play. But the big dreadnaughts like yours can really boom!
@wackmanzack5 жыл бұрын
do you ever get wrist pain? Its the first time for me playing a lot of these chords and I had to take a few days break because of my left hand wrist hurting. I am not sure about how to make some of the reaches less awkward for my wrist, any suggestions?
@thatguitardad5 жыл бұрын
You should rest your hands if they are in a lot of pain so you don't do any serious damage. Position and technique might need to be adjusted, and also relaxing instead of straining your hands (easier said than done, I know!). Try not to "grab" the neck with your left hand but make the only contact points be your thumb and fingertips (not the palm of your hand), especially in complex shapes. Personally, I have been experiencing increased pain in my left hand; I think it's joint related. In short, practice, relax your muscles, take breaks rather than "playing through the pain", and use right technique as much as possible. Happy playing!

Beautiful rendition. I’m too much of a novice so I couldn’t really follow along. I believe this is an a different key than Paul does it, am I wrong?

Im not sure abt this song man, it seems the verse kinda fits in 7/4 That is one bar 4/4 followed by 3/4. You can actually count 7/4 the whole verse and it fits
@thatguitardad5 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can, but I can't. One thing I will NEVER claim to have is good rhythm or counting
