I was stationed at VB and we used to go down to the "outer banks" of N.C. for camping. That is also were Kitty Hawk and the Wright Bros. museum is. Had a lot of fun camped right by the beach. What a cliff hanger you left us with at the end. Now we have to wait for the next video. lol You deserve some extra happiness.

There are still some fall colors showing, thank you for sharing your travel experiences ! I am personally not comfortable in such closed in areas and I would probably be freaking out going thru that tunnel under water !!! The sign above the toll booth said Bay Bridge TUNNEL. ......just sayin. 😉. The tunnel portion is for ships like you thought. The real reason is because Norfolk (right next to Va Beach) is home to the NAVY. They prefer to not have to worry about bridges to go under if they have a choice.

Glad you finally made it down here to Va Beach! There is a KOA with full RV hookups about 5 min away from where you were. Also when coming out of the second tunnel there was a spot you could have pulled off on that island that had a full gift shop and restaurant.

OMG you're so funny! I've done the tunnel many times traveling from Maryland to the Outer Banks. Your furrowed brow when the bridge changed to a tunnel was priceless! But in all honesty, the first time I went through the tunnel I was amazed and a little freaked out that I was underneath the ocean. Not for claustrophobic types although it doesn't last too long.

A free overnite is on the left just before the toll to Chesepeake Bay Bridge. We camped at the rest stop there. Nice trails, deer and rabbits, turtles.

I live in VA, do you plan on making another trip through the state in the future? You bypassed most of it staying in MD and taking the bay bridge tunnel. Lots of nice scenic stuff to see in the state. Caverns, civil war battlefields, blue ridge parkway, skyline drive, etc. Good luck and stay safe.

That whole Chesapeake Bay Bridge experience is really stunning. Amazing to think man made that! Nice to spend time at the beach. The bike path is great and very long. I wish I had my bike the time we visited. Hmm.... a cliFFHANger episode. Rats! Friday?! Oh man that's two days away!
