I think it's common to learn about this in school here on the Faroe Islands. The coldest it gets here during winter is probably around -5°c and the hottest i can remember during summer is 25°c. Faroe Islands is located 62°n and -7°w, so we are in the middle of the gulf stream, so the ocean never freezes.

Idea for a video: Carl Friedrich Gauß, the german mathematician Don't know if he is so popular in other countries but a lot of topics tought in school use an algorithmn he found. Imo he could fit quite well in a video, maybe just as a short side story. He had quite a unique personality and was not liked by many - nor did he like anybody it seems. Eg: It is said that he was concentrating on solving a maths problem when his wife was dying. He sent a maid to tell his wife she should wait a moment until he is done. Maybe he could fit in a "who is the goat" video (that should actually be Leonhard Euler in maths) or in a video quite similar to the story about Bobby Fischer but I am not sure if there is so much story to tell about Gauß.

FYI The Angel Falls is no longer the official tallest waterfall. That 979m is from the top, to where it joins another river many miles downstream, so it represents an absolute maximum. Which is why it is now the Tugela Falls, plunging down from the top of the Amphitheatre in the Drakensberg range on the border between South Africa and Lesotho, that now has this crown. It was accurately measured in 2017 by a European team. From the top to the pool at the bottom, it is 983m. Just 4m higher, but since there is no way Angel Falls can possibly be any higher (and 979m is already exceedingly generous given the inclusion of many miles of downstream cascades) Tugela absolutely exceeds Angel. No doubt or debate about that. To put this height in perspective, take the London Shard. Stack three of them on top of each other. Add half of Big Ben to the top of that. And now you have the vertical cliff that the Tugela Falls plunges down. It's more than two Empire State buildings (which is "only" 760m) and even the new One World Trade Centre is just 541m - more than half, but still more than one Empire State building short of matching the height. It is similar to the Grand Canyon at its very deepest (not the touristy bits), but it is near vertical all the way down, and lacks the other side of the canyon. On a clear day, you can see for over 100 miles. You can belly crawl to the edge, and stare into that KILLometre abyss, with no safety rails or suchlike to protect you. In fact, a weekend trip involving a four hour drive from Durban or Johannesburg to "Sentinel Peak Car Park", followed by a two hour hike to the Chain Ladders (100 feet of chain suspended ladders against a cliff) to get up on top of the plateau, and a further gentle hike across to the top of the waterfall for an overnight camp, is a very popular "experience" for the locals. Search KZbin for "Chain Ladder via Sentinel" by Cliff Sean, and sit back for an amazing weekend wearing shorts, T shirt and trainers. Yep, it doesn't take any other serious hiking gear. But bear in mind that one trip and you'll tumbling down hundreds of metres into steep gorges to your likely broken bones and probable death (nearest hospital is an hour away by helicopter, but recovering you from the depth of the gorge will take many hours). However. Staring into that killometre abyss is something you simply cannot do anywhere else on the planet... SO worth it! If you are puzzled by the lack of trees, the top of the falls is at 3,000m (10,000ft), well above the treeline. And that means the bottom of the falls is still 2,000m above sea level. Air is a little thin, but still plenty for most folk to cope just fine. It isn't Everest. And if you are thinking "that doesn't look that high" in the shots down the falls from above, you are only seeing the top 200m of it. There's a free fall of 100m, then a traverse across the cliff face of another 100m. That slight protrusion obscures the view (from directly above) of the next 400m free fall, and the various traverses beyond that, that add up to 983m. You can glimpse the full falls in the opening of another gorgeous video. Look for "uKhahlamba Drakensberg" by Alex Nail on KZbin. Scale is so deceptive. However big (or small) you think these vistas are, they are at least TEN times bigger. Those little rabbits cavorting in the fields waaaaay over there, by the stream, are actually zebras and donkeys...

Crazy how the difference between freshwater & salt water and Warm water & Cold water 🌊 creates all of this complexity. Complexity in Nature basically comes from {"Differences"}The "factor" of those differences seems to be what makes these dynamic systems function. Just look at: *{High pressure/low pressure, hot/cold temperatures, different densities, viscosities, turbulent flow, static electric charges/discharges, +/- electromagnetism, different frequencies of photon's, different velocity/angular momentum, different amounts of energy/mass/vibrations. Different boundary layers between different regions such as: (Land/water/air/layers of the atmosphere/space/ the different regions in space with different particle density/background radiation, solar wind/membrane layers/bubble's/surface tension/cloud regions, nebula's/Galaxy's/Galaxy clusters/ Cosmic filaments/less dense regions of space compared to dense regions of space.) All of these things are basic differences but create a way for the dynamic engine within Nature to continue flowing and operating to create and convert energy.} Just Like How a battery 🔋 transfers + charges through a membrane layer to a - charged side. Like how regions of high/low temperature 🌡️ create winds. In water- add some factors and It creates ocean currents and flow. Then internally inside our planet it creates plate tectonics, planetary convection, geothermal activity, a magnetic field around our planet, to hold an atmosphere. The list goes on 🧲🌡️📡🔆☢️🔌🔊🔋♻️🌐☯️⚛️ The natural world around us is utterly facinating.

I think I've heard of this before, I've definitely heard of an underwater waterfall. But there was a lot of detail in this video I haven't heard before.

There is an under watser waterfall off the north east tip of Tasmania too. Apparently the water freezes as it hits the bottom at certain times of the year.
