I really don’t think there’s any point digging up someone’s past, especially when they’ve turned their life around. But I don’t think his intention was to do that, I think it came out as part of his story. I think it’s more like an open secret, everyone knew where the heroines back in the day would come from but it just was never admitted by someone this openly. Personally, I think this should make people respect Reema more. She had no control in what family she was born into. She changed her life with her career, she educated her sisters, got them married off, one of her sister became a CSS officer, she then got married to a doctor and lives in USA with her husband. She changed her circumstances and for that she deserves respect! Easy for us to judge who did not grow up in same situation or family. I think as humans we are all judgemental but Pakistanis really take the icing on the cake for this.

I often find Aamna to be hypocritical. She believes interviewers should profit while guests should not share in the earnings. It’s deemed wrong for only women to cook, yet it's acceptable only for men to pay the bills. Where is her appreciation for art, craft, and the ecosystem? They too deserve a portion of the profits. Conversely, Hassan is consistently honest and unbiased. We tend to commend and expect others to work for free, yet when it concerns us, we insist on fair compensation. Aamna's point on Reema is on point.

I agree, I don’t think Amna should’ve spoken about Javeria Saud, especially because they never review any of her dramas. Baby Baji 2 has been a big hit in Pakistan and they never discussed it probably because it was a daily soap. However if Javeria Saud is charging for her interviews then that’s her right. People who tend to come to Something Haute for a chat they come either because they will definitely benefit from financially later on or that they want to get their name out there. Javeria Saud is known by everyone she won’t benefot from anything if she gave an interview. I agree with Hassan. I hope I don’t get blocked. 🚫 😂

@@anubhaseth9112 It's benefitting the interviewer much more & what's the harm in sharing the monetary benefits. If a youtuber is already wealthy should he/she not gain anything financially? My Funda is simple: whosoever is putting in efforts should get a share in profit. Just like actors charge for tv advertisements. Up to the actor if he wants to give an interview for free but he is not money minded (negative way) rather smart & aware. We should stop this culture of glorifying sacrifices :)

For the first time I disagree with Amna, Javerias stance on this should not be taken as a negative money minded thing. She is well within her right to ask for money as a compensation…..just because other people are doing interviews for free does not mean every actor has to do it….. Primary or secondary income does not matter……..

What Hassan is saying about Javeria is absolutely true. KZbinrs have been off shooting into other areas too, so should not get financial benefit from it? If someone is making money off of a personality then the celebrity can also demand money for their appearance. It’s all a money making affair. And why should art or craft be free. We pay for a beautiful painting, we pay a craftsman that has created a piece of anything then why is actor any different. They represent the performing art-form, same as visual art or a handicraft. Money is not evil please understand that. Very much appreciate Hassan who took this stand in the argument. Impressive!

Exactly, why does she hide it? He also named Neeli, Saima, and Nadira from the same bazaar, but no one objected to it. What's so special about Reema? It's her marriage to a USA based cardiologist that's making noise. It's her connection with these actors because they all stay at her home in the USA. This nation is very racist and classist, and why the hell is Reema hiding her past? She should be proud of it. Millions of Sharief and educated girls in thier 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's because they could not find husbands. reema ki tu lottery lagi hui hai.

This is so wrong to say asking for your due has negative connotation to it. Everyone is doing whatever they are doing for their living. Actors are brand, and it takes a huge part of their life to build the name. N if someone even says that they do acting for money then what is wrong with that. No actor does entertainment as a philanthropy. They all have ulterior motives, either money or fame or both. I don’t think there is anyone who does acting solely because they like acting. It’s a profession and everything is part and parcel of the job. Hence, one has every right to ask for their due without sounding negative.

Absolutely! We even talk about royalty actors get in west and strongly support it. Interview is a public appearance and if someone does it for free good on them but if not, there’s NOTHING wrong about it. Also, saying they already earn too much so they shouldn’t is also not a valid point cuz enough is variable for every individual and we’re no one to decide that on behalf of the other person

The way Nasir Adeeb has addressed and apologized for his statement is really impressive. The new show he has done on Reema is actually a study on how to right a wrong one may have done. Please do watch it. Admitting a mistake and being so upfront about was such a breath of fresh air. It must be lauded so others learn.

Actor's sincerity to acting is shown through doing acting not through talking about acting/craft to podcasters/content creators who are monetizing on actor's face value/insight without sharing any revenue. Javeria is right in saying she would rather do that on her own KZbin channel unless she is paid for it given that her experience and her time shouldn't be free commodities for those who are producing content for commercial purpose or to those who are already well connected and resourceful. With due respect, Aamna your primary business is fashion journalism (you often mentioned your primary love for print journalism) and you already forayed into "side hussle/gig" on KZbin content creation and monetizing it. I can't understand why what is right for you is wrong for an artist. Do reconsider.

hassan is right unless there is no benefit attached to interview for actors like self promotion or movie promotion they can ask to be paid for podcast as they leave their kids , waste their time/money to come to the podcast.. I disagree with Amna it should not look bad if some actor is asking for money as you are making money out of them. Also every one knows where actresses came from in lollywood its no hidden secret . You cant hide your past all clips of reema work is on internet and on reels. We as nation should grow up . We should celebrate the fact that 16 year old girl journey how she fought all hurdles and get her family settled. How she chose to be on right path when she has all opportunities to go wrong. She is role model to all girls who are born poor or born in wrong place.

Reema reacted and posted something, but she didn’t deny the allegations . Anyways we should respect others boundaries. Nobody should discuss anybody’s past. Once people repent, evolved and moved on, so should we. But don’t worry today he totally changed the story not sure what he was monetarily offered or harassed. I felt bad for Reema at first but after hearing his recent apology, I can tell how someone can use mafia probably to get him to change his statement & say things that are not true! He literally said earlier he was in red light area & He met her & her mom and today a 90° turn. He said he didn’t even know her & he should’ve googled her information lol and started telling some fudge story. Now I feel he just kept telling past stories of his career and stuff probably didn’t realize or had an intention to hurt anybody, ( though he should’ve not felt entitled to disrespect women like most men of Pak) but now with this new story, you can tell how things flipped and probably force was used to tell him some fake story. He looks so scared. I truly believe the first story was true, and Rema’s personality reflects that. and there’s nothing wrong in that, people can work hard & can even get out of slums. But what upsetting is he mentioned a lot of other names, but nobody got bothered to defend them? And now whatever happened later they took the authenticity of the podcast.

One thing that surprises me is how negative people are about everything. How do people believe what they read on Google and the internet? We all know that it is full of mistakes. But she herself said her age and people don't believe it? Some people look younger genetically. She did Humsafar in 2011 and her age was around 24/25. You can understand that by watching the drama. Now it is 2024, Humsafar's drama is about 14/15 years old. So if you watch Humsafar and do the math, you will see that her age cannot be more than 40. She is telling the truth.

Has any dancer or stage dancer ever admitted they are from heera mandi, no. Every dancer starts her interview with " I come from a very strict family, we were not allowed to watch tv or movies etc". Reema is a decent person and worked hard to get here and Allah gave her izzat and a good life, but everyone knows the fact, she is a celebrity and things will come out.

Salaam .I always love your discussions and like the fact that you can disagree without being harsh .I just want to say that Amna's stance about Reema's issue is on point but i see a bit of a contrast when she says that society ke norms ka khayal b rakha jana chahiye tou why ,when it came to reviewing BARZAKH ,you were all ok with what was being shown in that drama in the name of ART..I expected from you ,not to review that drama and I was really disappointed because we all know or should be knowing that LGBT agenda is very subtely and slowly making its way to our society.we can not be tone deaf towards that reality as well and we should discourage that cz we will be answerable to Allah . In this day and age its very difficult and dangerous territory ,when you cant even state a simple fact ,which a person might be saying just normally or in a tone deaf manner without realising that its not THAT normal NOW cz so much sensitivity .and our old generation slips in that path very easily in the very same way anything can be allowed in the name of ART and be defended as well. Voices of common people dont matter much but the platforms like yours ,have this SAY and should be more sensible and responsible not to allow or show or promote just anything in the name of ART cz we all will be answerable and we can only play our part. Also thank you so much for raising voice for a massacre happened in islamabad.I feel like my life has just changed after viewing that tragedy in my own homeland by my own people and i was in shock but im very disappointed to see we as a Nation giving dead response and no influencers even mentioning it .we surely are responsible for our own decline as a country

Only Reema has the right over her roots and therefore it is her right alone to reveal it or not. And, this person mentioned Reema because she has become a big name, otherwise he wouldn't. Hassan's point is the intent may not have had malice, but you need to be more than just not malicious in a public podcast when you are talking about someone else.

actors are “performers” so they charge for their “craft” when they perform onscreen, or otherwise. An interview is not intended to be a performance, it’s a rather serious “dialogue” so to charge for that is actually out of line with professional ethics. it’s akin to a journalist wanting to interview say a politician and the politician says i’ll only interview if you pay me for it.. that would be a ridiculous thing…

Amna is so right about Reema,I have watched Reema interviews and saw over years how she gradually groomed n upgraded herself and how she over praise herself in an annoying way which is her unconscious effort of erasing her past that she clearly does not want any association with having lived in this society.Being born in Redlight is not a choice and living there definately not a great option for any person. If Allah has helped her leave that so should we stop discussing.

Amna Isani said "there are confirmed reports that 161 people died" in Islamabad (discussion was about an incident related to a political rally on Nov 26). My humble question is, what is the source of the "confirmed report"? How was it confirmed? Even PTI is claiming 12 or 21 deaths. Please don't confuse "alleged" with "confirmed". Both of you are very mature and responsible hosts, we expect restraint and responsibility not sensationalism, which is usually the hallmark of this show. Kindly don't spread hearsay as authentic news.

Aamna couldn’t put her point across very clearly in Javeria’s case but she is right. It’s an ecosystem. KZbinrs give you exposure they review your content they have a credibility attached to them so if tomorrow they are saying so and so drama is good people will watch it which in turn gives actors more work. I know so many dramas which I only watched because they said it is good in turn actors can give interviews to them to feed their channel. If tomorrow I’ll watch any interview of Javeria I wouldn’t know how authentic she is or is she telling what she is telling because of the money given to her.

Reema has no reason to be ashamed of her being from 'heera mandi' as she had no choice. The only demon in the story is her father, who fathered a child and then left the mother and 'his' own child in abhorrent conditions. It is her father and his family who needs to be ashamed of his behaviour towards women. Hats off to Reema for improving her own life and her siblings and becoming a better human being than her paternal family. Our society is patriarchal and hence the exploitation of women in so many forms is still socially acceptable. May Reema and other girls like her have peaceful, blessed and happy lives ahead.

Thank you Amna for talking absolute sense and boundaries regarding Reema’s issue . It was really wrong and in complete bad taste for Nasir Adeeb to talk so loosely about Reema like that. Surely this guy wanted attention to his podcast interview and get popular on spitting unnecessary things about famous ladies. Such a pathetic thing to do by Nasir Adeeb. No one has a right to dig into anyone’s past and highlight the facts unless they themselves do it. And yes Reema has reacted but in displeasure.

Aamna is right. One should not dig up someone's past (of that sensitive nature in a society like ours) unless and until the person talks about it. I understand that Hassan wants to build society's tolerance toward these things. But we should not do it at the expense of women's dignity and exploitation. Let's start by making more fictional stories to show women and men leaving such environments and making a respectable place in society.

Hassan, are you 2 years old, don't you know what heera mundi is and what impact it can have on your married life, your children and others. you live in a society in which people don't talk about their previous marriages to their kids and in laws. It's a huge thing that a nobody just randomly one day say such a thing about you. And if someone is not comfortable with their past, regardless of the fact weather it's true or not, you should not and must not talk about it. This man should be done for defamation. It's unacceptable he should come live and apologise. I am shocked that Hassan say that if it's true we should tell everyone. NO, FOR GOD SAKE THAT'S WRONG. there are things in life you never want those things to come up. And just come on TV and say those things is disgusting.

Firdous Jamal is a person who may be good at acting but not at all good as a person. He thinks he is an actor and all the people he has worked with are women of the market. If that is the case then why did he work with them? He lectures a lot about religion, where does it say in Islam that male actors are permissible and women are not permissible?? If he is such a religious person then why didn't he do some other job instead of acting? After working knowingly and understanding and earning money, he now considers himself permissible as an actor and others are not permissible?? And he is a senior actor his job is to inspire, treat and appreciate the younger ones. But he insults people everywhere, insults them about their age? He also talks about the acting of their parents. He even says that the heroine will be a 15/16 year old virgin girl whom boys will be thrilled to see?? He means that acting doesn't need to be good, young age means heroine. Older age means old age. Wow what a mentality 😆 Are these his jobs? Is there no other good actor or actress in Pakistan except him? Nadeem Baig is not there? Have they ever said such things? He says bad things to many people, so he should not tolerate this day after day. He should stop. Mahira khan is a actress who surely never disrespect anybody Today Mahira khan has given her answer, from now everybody should also give it. People will not respect the one who does not respect people. So he should fix himself.

It is public knowledge where Reema was discovered from. Everyone in my generation knows. Amna has a point that new generation didn't know that fact. But isn't it journalism to state the fact. Surely journalists can't pick and choose, who people can talk about honestly and who they should cover up for. Anyway the guy Nasir Adeeb, has now apologised and went on to give a completely fake account of Reema's origin in the industry. So that should please Everyone 😊.

I agree more with Aamna on topic of Artists wanting to monetise interviews. As an actor or artist the media and portals play a vital role in reporting on them and keeping them in news to keep up their hype in the general public and if that stops the artist or the actor would eventually fizzle away. There is literally ZERO negative impact on the artist if they give these interviews as they are getting more exposure and staying relevant. If the public stop watching the projects and the media stopped reporting it then the artist would become a nobody and that’s the reality of it. Whatever money artists makes off projects don’t get shared with nobody else who also have a part in making them who they are. Artists shouldn’t expect to be paid for interviews when they’re being made to stay relevant through appearing on interviews or podcasts to whole different audiences. Lastly, if the interviews gaining views it’s not suddenly because of an artist but due to the fact that the platform or the portal already have a loyal subscribed audience who would tune in to view the content so it’s a bit unethical to actually wanting a part of that earning. It’s a whole different game if it’s a colab and the portals or platforms have already offered to pay a percentage.
