I love it when they yawn too it's absolutely adorable!! I just recently got my first snake she's a year old ball python then a few weeks after that I got another ball python lol who's around 2 years old. I love having snakes as pets it's amazing. I have to do a bit of work on socializing my 1 year old as she came from a big breeder and didn't get handle very much so she doesn't really like being handled, but she never tries to bite me just hisses and she's getting alot better each time I take her out. My 2 year old on the other hand is much more use to being handle as he came from a much smaller breeder. My advice would be before you get any snake whether it be a corn snake or a ball python is to do lots and lots of research. I really Green Room Pythons too lots of good stuff on his channel too.

I know I've wanted a snake for years and about 7 years ago I was gonna get one but I was living with my grandma and her son my uncle is terrified of snakes and wouldn't come to the house anymore if I would of gotten 1 but I'm thankful that I had to wait because now I'm much more knowledgeable and back then I would have just gotten a snake and probably would have just went on what the pet shop told me to do without further research. I hope one day the time will be right for you to get another snake again

what's the humidity in the enclosure? Have you got a humidity box? What substrate are you using? Shedding problems are usually a sign of incorrect husbandry so, that's the first thing that needs to be checked. For Ball Pythons, They need 70-80% Humidity measured on the cool side, at all times. 60% is the minimum, and anything below 60% is a RI risk for this species.

If your snek is a little panicked in water, putting a rock or something the snek can wrap it's tail around or cling too helps. It can even rub against the rock to help the shed! Putting a rock in a water bowl in their enclosure can be good too, but have another water bowl for drinking. Just something Ive seen/heard from Lori the behaviour specialist :)

My day skink would chill on my shoulder while I was teaching all day…just a laid back dude. Unless he had a bad shed and then he would yeet himself to his nearest burrow. I finally gave up on him using his bowl and would do a little brief soak in a feeding box and it was the only thing that worked. Skinks are hella fast so anything that would put him on the defense was not happening or I’d never get him back.
