Jo, & Zack, I have watched several videos. Very heart felt when you speak of your late husband> Touches my heart and soul. I am a widower, almost 8 years. Wish I could have had someone like yourself early on to watch and listen to. We were married 33 years, you have lost so much. in a very short time. I thank God that you and Zack met, it is so helpful to have a supportive partner that openly talks with you and is compassionate of your loss. He is a good man. As you go through life; please keep sharing it helps people so much. I have met a very nice lady who lost her husband after 33 years of marriage also. We laugh and talk often about our late spouses and understand each other. I am not sure about Zacks past relationships but he is truly a good man. God is with us every step of our life, You and I can thank him for meeting our partners. The video with you in the beautiful red dress that he liked so much, made me cry, not sadness but happiness. I still wear clothes that Alice bought for me and makes my heart sing when putting them on, or just touching them in the closet. Don't mean to write a novel here but thank you! I am subscribing for future farming and life videos you do.

Your videos are very unique - there is a cinematic quality to you (this is not the level of beauty one expects to find on a corn farm, at least according to my European stereotypes 🤣) , and yet it is all so real and natural, and one just gets a good feeling from watching that. Your channel is exploding because the more people subscribe, the more it gets suggested, and it just really hooks you in very fast no matter what you normally would watch! I have never watched anything about farming AT ALL, and still i love this! it's like watching a kind of feel-good documentary about big-production farming, that is just a window into a world I have never seen. Also, I don't think it's as much ado with irony as it has to do with life. Things happens even if it feels like the universe has it in for ya, life still happens. Since you service your own equipment. Have a online machine shop make, or look online for 416 corrosion resistant alloy bolts, that you need for this changing of the blades. Have the bolts that are made heat treated and annealed to bring it back from not being to brittle , but being tough enough for the strength that is needed for this application. This 416 alloy won't rust after being heat treated , allowing for the nuts to be removed much easier. You may need to drill a cross hole for a stainless cotter pin when using a castle type (use 316 stainless alloy ) nut to lock it down with the right amount of torque for the bolt diameter. Or use safety wire to keep it from coming apart. I have had to make custom made fasteners for equipment that worked in a wet or damp environment on my CNC machines and other equipment that had moisture issues,..So I know about trying to take apart rusted together nuts and bolts from wet conditions on my production machinery.

I didn't notice anyone make a comment on the question you had about the socket that didn't seem to make sense to either yourself or Zack. Its actually a specialty socket that is used for the older style "Budd" wheel end stud piloted fastening hardware on highway tractors or trailers of quite a few years ago, its very hard to explain in words and much easier to see video of the various components and how they work and why that double duty socket was made. The very socket you put in the photo is actually a 1 inch drive socket ( for a 1 inch drive impact wrench ) with the working end as a 1-1/2 inch hex socket but deeper into the socket body is a 13/16 square which gives that socket two different uses in one socket tool. While I have never actively worked on Budd wheel ends I have the basics down as to how its all designed to mount up a set of dual wheels on a wheel end of that vintage, just haven't needed to work on one as most of the trucks I have around here on the farm have either the old dayton wheel ends or the newer hub piloted wheel ends of current trucks and trailers that use a 33 mm hex socket. Don't mix that socket up with other sockets in a set as it should be stored separately to avoid future confusion !. But anyway tell Zack its a specialty double duty type socket for older semi and trailer wheel Budd style stud piloted wheel end style hardware and that it is in fact a 1 inch drive ( they also came in 3/4 drive flavor as well )

A hot torch and bigger hammer makes short work of removing the bolts/nuts. Years ago, when I was the new guy at the implement dealer, I changed a lot of blades on these big rotary mowers.
@dr.strangelove77395 ай бұрын
Don’t ever stand near the bat wing on the mower if the tractor is running. I was with my best friend when he raised the wing to dig out barbed wire that he ran over. (Seeing your husband sitting on the floor next to the blades reminded me of this story) Someone was on the tractor and he told them to step on the brake and the engaged the pto by mistake. The blades engaged and hit my friend in the head. Almost killed him and left his left arm paralyzed. John Deere said the blades should not turn with the wing raised, but they did. Same mower as you have. Be careful around your equipment.
