Fun Fact (or not so fun): because spectral lance is an occult skill, it scales with weapon upgrade and arcane only. Ice spear by comparison scales with weapon dex and int. It really weirds me out how skills and especially ashes of war have completely different scaling from the weapon they're on. Even more so considering DS3's Follower Javelin does carry over properties from the actual weapon; fire infused? can explode oil barrels and light puss snakes on fire. The one thing I did find looking into it is that it does 5x the poise damage of the base weapon, making it quite a safe and effective option at exposing enemies and bosses.

Yeah and even then it doesnt scale all that well, but I think its because it can headshot really reliably which can almost do as much as a greatbow headshot so... I mean, not terrible.

Spectral lance is for poise damage from a distance, not physical damage. Can be used to pressure mages who won't let you get close though.

I would recommend using scholars shield over greatshield talisman. It's a level 200 build you can throw 3 points in int. Although that would mess up the fashion so ya.
