Julie you do such lovely work! I am hypnotised! I just finished my first attempt at a background. I did it with black ink. I think it turned out very well. I put the black on at the end. I just wanted to comment how thoughtful it is of you to take the time to put a little note on your page that identifies the colour of the pencil you are using. That is sooo helpful when we are learning and striving to end up with a product just like we see on our screens. Thanks!!! Now if only I wasn't using Faber Castell Polys! Seems everything I love is done with Prismas!

I have just finished laying down the black background of this picture with the Posca 1M and 5M markers (paint pens). I was concerned it would go through to the picture on the other side of the paper, so I put a layer of black Derwent pencil down first as a barrier. I don't know if I did all this incorrectly, but mine has been a dreadful experience. Where I put the black Posca has buckled and curled dreadfully on the corners of the paper and I don't know if I will be able to colour the picture in now. The Posca marker went through to the other side of the paper (partially and not strongly, but you can see it is there). I also have very bad streaking all over the black background, which I hadn't anticipated. I am wondering if I did this all wrong, perhaps I was too heavy handed with the marker? I still have about 20% of the background to fill in and my Posca 5M (the larger pen) is almost empty and I might have to complete part of it with the fine one. Would I do this again? Probably not. This is quite possibly my own mistake, in the way I did it. So please don't let it stop any of you from doing it yourself. You might end up with absolutely perfect results :) Has anyone else had this experience or hopefully a much better one? If you are going to be doing this, make sure you have multiple sheets of paper next to and under the picture, just as protection from the paint, as it takes a few minutes to dry. Have fun and good luck! :)

+Kate O never had this problem and no bleeding through at all, weird... Maybe other paper quality ...
@kateo8468 жыл бұрын
Thinking about it, I was probably too heavy handed as I used the Posca marker. I coloured like you would with a pencil, overlapping the sides so there were no streaks and empty bits. But I ended up with both anyway lol

Are the Posca pens alcohol based? I know the paper is amazing in these books but did it bleed through at all. Your tutorials are amazing. thank you.
@Juliespassionforcoloring8 жыл бұрын
+Lesley McLeod they don't bleed through at all, they are acrylic paint based markers

julia. Gorgeous once again. I've seen you in Hannah coloring group btw) but I was wondering how the finish of the posca pens are when dry. I have Pitt B and they dry a bit shiny/reflective when light hits it. (ie. flashbulb especially )

+JodyM the dry very quick, not really shiny... Just a littlie bit

that black posca marker, does it dry leaving streaks? or is it all even? does it bleed through? mind showing the page behind? :D

+Milania Chan doesn't bleed through at all, it gives a bit of streaks ... But inwent over it 2 times...
@milaswissenswerk87438 жыл бұрын
huh. i see. was trying out colored pencil in black with faber castell pitt artist in black, thats also somewhat streaky so i was hoping for a streak-free-non-bleedtrough alternative. Do you have a clear wink of stella from ZIG? looking at that one too for jewels and stuff.. looks so good..
@Juliespassionforcoloring8 жыл бұрын
+Milania Chan yes i use the clear wink of stella on some details sometimes... Really fun thing to use... And really shiny... The posca makes a bit streaks but really not bad...
