Body
Largemouth bass have an elongated, streamlined body that can range in color from silvery-white to brassy-green, or light brown in darker water. They have a dark olive mottling on their dorsal surface, a broad black stripe, and greenish-black speckles along their sides. Their bellies are greenish-white or yellowish, and their eyes are usually gold.
Mouth
Largemouth bass have a large mouth with an upper jaw that extends past the rear margin of their eye, except in small young. They also have a toothless tongue.
Dorsal fin
Largemouth bass have a nearly divided dorsal fin, with the anterior portion containing nine spines and the posterior portion containing 12 to 13 soft rays.
Other features
Largemouth bass also have a dusky black edge on their caudal fin, which is most prominent in juveniles.
