This is just wonderful! I never thought I would ever get to see it. You mention that it's uncut but there do seem to be two small jumps. One at 0:22/0:23 which jumps from "And fear grips the village anew" to "A man tainted...". Then at 1:58/1:59 there's another jump right after Rathbone picks up the rock to a scene with Rathbone and Atwill. All in all, it's a fantastic trailer and it's great to finally see it!! Love the original GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN trailer too!!

I've long wondered when narration became common in trailers. Any thoughts? This is the earliest narrated Universal horror trailer I've seen for what's definitely the first-run release (narration being common by the time trailers were put together for the RealArt re-releases).

2:10 the Trailer is different from the final released movie. - The Inspector still got his arm prosthesis - The monster is shot twice in closeup and not only one time - In the final movie he doesn´t look up.

Great to see this original trailer and not the usual Realart re-release trailers. Original Universal trailers are quite rate, so this is a treat since the recent bluray has additional minutes not seen in prior DVD issues. It is strange to see scenes lifted from 1935 Bride of Frankenstein inserted and the Waxman music score used...guess we will never know why. Hopefully more original trailers can be unearthed.

Strange that music from Frankenstein's opening credits and then snatches from Waxman's score from Bride of Frankenstein were used but totally omits the Frank Skinner score for the film it's promoting!
@johnnyedify8 жыл бұрын
Also used alternate takes as well. May have been put together in a hurry before score was finalized.

Back then trailers for upcoming films were almost always released before the film was completed, including the addition of the new score. Almost every trailer ever made used old music from the studio's library.
@RasslinRelics6 жыл бұрын
Skinner,because of the overrun in filming,barely got the score finished in time for the premiere, so they probably went with what they had.

Such a great movie. To bad they didn't use Frank Skinner's awesome score from it. I tried to get a little bit of this look into my low budget "Lust of the Dead" (Amazon). The Germans had a huge influence on American horror films of the 30s. Even non-horror films i. e. "The Informer".

Hey, is that *the* Todd F...?? As in... *gulps* O_o Todd doesn't know it yet but I'm gonna marry him! I decided while browsing eBay. Just as soon as I'm done marrying Kirk H, the Metallica guy. Hey, Bela's *original painting* and White Zombie costume PLUS BONUS: Poelzig's pajamas, trumps The Black Cat poster and LC. (And I want that LC soo bad! But I want Kirk's stuff "more bad". Particularly that painting!) I just hope I don't end up with half a painting and half a costume and half an LC! Ok, so I'm glad we had this conversation.

@jonathanfroes81898 жыл бұрын
not really a big story...just a guy that worked at cbs that passed and this was store inside his house full of tv and film equipment...barely walkable inside. the reel had two more trailers which I didn't bother doing anything with it one being a re-release of king kong and the other gone with the wind fully faded and obviously the son and the ghost of Frankenstein. so that's that!

So, I finally watched this film (I thought I'd already seen it!) Frankenstein (monster) as a roving maniac who kills everything and everyone in sight! Quite a change from the "innocent" creature of films 1 & 2. Problem? While they penned a beautiful friendship between Lugosi's Ygor & "Frankie's M." we hardly get to see more than 10 secs here and there! Karloff is barely in this film at all! I wonder if he sat in the make up chair 4 hours (one-way!) only to wait around 8 hrs and have nothing to film? The cinematography is good but, regretfully, this is the Rathbone/Atwill show. And boy, are their characters boring, particularly Frankenstein (BR)! Atwill is ok, but there's just way too much of him & his Nazi-like persona & it's just too "talky"! I like that they penned a lot of Lugosi, but with that furry beard and yuck teeth, it was all lost on me! I would have much preferred Bela walking around in a tux! XD What a disappointment this film is! No wonder Karloff never again would be Frankenstein (House of & Owlet wing Route 66 notwithstanding!) If they had billed BR & LA first, then Bela third & Boris last, we wouldn't have expected any more than they gave us. It took me 3 days to get through this one. Mostly it's the British accents without subtitles. (I guess I don't speak English!) Even Bela I had trouble understanding and I understand him much better than American accents or even Karloff's! Sorry for the rant but it's truly a let down. Anyone else felt the same here?? I did read they penned the script daily, as they went along filming, which gave Bela a meaty role. Still, were they drunk? This is as bad as Mark of the Vampire! One doesn't tune in to a Frankenstein film to watch Rathbone (or just flatten his top & bolt his neck already!) nor a MOTV film to hear Lionel Barrymore yap nonstop & not see but 10 secs of vampires here & there. My fellow fans: Films, ruined!

This movie was primitive as hell. Last time I have seen it was about 10 years ago but I still remember that interior with only one table. It's a low budget B movie even by the 40's standards. More like a theatrical play than a movie.
