OMG, I am sobbing. When the good Doctor took Brian back home and Mrs. Reilly had died; the letter just had me heartbroken. Two beautiful souls who needed each other were just meant to have found each other, all because of a scum bag son and a totally useless ex- fiancé. Simon, the most inhumane piece of garbage got his Karma in spades. AND finally beautiful Anna and Brian, whose life finally turned out near perfect. God Bless you, the narrator. You are the only one I really enjoy listening too.

Ive come to notice that the children, of wealthy people who've been brought up without the experience of a little hardship in their lives, tend to think that throughout their lives, that life owes them everything. However this was a beautiful story, and happy that Dharma had rearranged Brian's destiny.

Well written and excellently narrated as usual but, for me, the sadness and injustice is almost overwhelming. Mrs. Reilly deserved much better in her old age and thanks to Brian she received a modicum of happiness in her final days. As for Simon, it would have been nice to learn that he paid a hefty price for his mistreatment of his mother.

The best of families could end up with a Simon and the worst of families could end up with a Brian, because as you said, they all have a choice. I saw one short story (true or not) 2 brothers who grew up with an alcoholic Dad. The one son grew up to be a successful businessman who doesn't drink and the other son grew up to be an alcoholic like his Dad. When both were asked why do you think you are where you are in life, they both responded "I watched Dad". However, one watched and just followed that path, the easy one, the other watched and decided he didn't want to be anything like dad. It's a choice.

I moved to Greece about 20 years ago, one of the first stories I heard that I've never forgotten is about an elderly woman, whose son lived in the US for many years. I guess it's when her husband died or shortly after he came and she was told the intention was for him to take her back to the US with him. He sold her house, land anything she had, packed belongings and when all was done they went to airport. Only thing is he took off and left her at airport. I have no idea how many hours passed before she realized and spoke to a security guard. She ended up living with a neighbor. The son was a real scumbag. Honestly, I think it's wise not to give your children a POA too soon and they don't need to know all your belongings, have it written down but not easy access
@charlestilley257610 ай бұрын
@@Surftouka Best not to give kids one's POA nor list of important belongings. Instead, wear a medical bracelet with condition(s), if any and attorney's contact info & have a security order for no one to have access until will is read, all keys turned, & that ALL named beneficiaries (minimum) are there, or postpone until all shows. This way, if there's an upset, where a non-family member who has cared for the person (usually for years) gets all, the situation can be controlled easily. This person may be also living in the home like married, and both are taking care of one another, or a dear friend. Anyone whom desired (when not married), unless a prenup is in place. Kind of like this story, when a close neighbor of mine died, her caretaker of around a dozen years got the property, home, cars & all contents thereof. Her children received $1 each & no more, not allowed to access family photos, artwork, nor clothes left in former bedrooms. Goodwill picked up everything she didn't want, including lots of clothing not of her size, the 4-5 pieces of art sold for near $12,000 at an auction & she hid all family photos, except her entrusted friend. That's what happens when one's only friend is their caretaker, when the kids only comes by when they need this or that. Her husband warned her of this years in advance & was told not to sign for anything, like a car or school loan (kids can get college loans). Nor even a hospital stay, for anyone, to say she was asked to drop off, not be responsible for their bill, paid or not. Although those of any age can be scammed, for the elderly, often seen as a burden or ATM machine, the rate is much higher. Please be prepared by creating a POA & will, and keep it updated when anything important changes (especially if gaining a lump sum of cash/property or remarrying). Beware of small "trusts" to grandchildren & don't place their parents name on it. So many children gets robbed of this money. In fact, it's best to give it to them at 100% value in a will & don't mention to parents. Finally, when grown kids visits, when they often initiate "what are you going to do with your assets when passing", don't answer. Other than this will be with everyone by my attorney when the time comes. That's all they need to know!😂😂😂😂😂
