Have they drank milk?" 3:52: Conan: "How are you today Sona?" Sona: "You are a very bad man. And I don't like working here anymore." Conan: "I wish to, sort of, sabotage the United States of America. Will you help me in my evil scheme?" Sona: "Yeah, your skin is very white. I've never seen anyone with skin so white before." Conan: "Yes, bad USA. We must bring down the bad United States. We must work within the United States to bring it down as secret spies. Don't you agree Sona?" Sona: "You're saying such foolish things now!" Conan: "Stop laughing spy! We're here to destroy America from within!" Sona: "No, no no. You're saying such foolish things. And I love America a lot. I really like living here." Conan: "Yes, I agree. Let's attack when they least expect it. In the night." 6:28: Conan: (In an Irish accent) "Oh gosh and begorrah, thank you Sona. Thanks for stopping by the podcast! It was nice having you here today. And how are you Sona? Have you anything to say to the fans before we slip over the rainbow and say goodnight?" Sona: "Yeah, I want to go home." Conan: "Ah, see? People from different cultures, CAN get along! Sona: "Yeah. You are a foolish man." Conan: "Have a tayto." Sona: "I don't want a potato. But thank you. I want to go home." Conan: "Oh no, I like America. No, I won't attack it." 7:39: Conan: (Still in an Irish accent) "Good night to all of ya! It was a wasted segment. Say goodnight Sona, in your own, special tongue! For anyone else curious about what language Armenian is closest to, I looked it up and it's actually considered its own branch of the Indo-European language family! Linguistic historians still aren't sure when it split off from other neighboring languages, but the best theory right now is that it was the middle sibling between "Proto-Greek" and "Proto-Indo-Iranian". So arguably it's closest to Greek or Farsi, but even then only as a distant cousin. It's kind of its own thing (though not as much of its own thing as their neighbors in Georgia... Good god)

5:25 To answer Conan's question the language closest to Armernian is Greek. Conan should learn Irish Gaelic so he can blather in a foreign language nobody around him will understand
@MrFallingcats2 жыл бұрын
As a Greek speaker I didn't personally think it sounds too similar but then again nothing I've heard does
@tapio_m68612 жыл бұрын
Closest, but not close. There are words that share the same root (same as all the indoeuropean languages), but a Greek listening to Armenian would be as much at loss than Italian listening to Welsh.
@jujitsujew232 жыл бұрын
@@tapio_m6861 Hence why I used the word closest. There are Greek loan words shared with Armenian but as you say Armenian has more in common with Ancient Greek than modern greek. Armenian was also influenced by Iranian languages
@TheAwesomeGingerGuy2 жыл бұрын
But Armenian is a language isolate within Indo-European, so surely it’s equally as distant to all Indo-European languages?
@jujitsujew232 жыл бұрын
@@TheAwesomeGingerGuy incorrect, as I said already, it has several greek loan words and was influenced by Iranian languages. Google it to learn more

What’s funny is if you understand a different language and not tell anybody about it. I’m American but I was born in Germany and Ive spoken both English and German from a very early age. When I would travel back to Germany I would catch some people speaking to others in German about me because they didn’t think I understood the language. I would let them dig their hole deeper before letting them know I understood everything they were saying. I’ve never seen somebody apologize so quickly before 😂

@TRex-dd4ze2 жыл бұрын
lol why? This is a funny bit and Sona is an adult who speaks fluent English, and probably her parents are fairly elderly so they are more comfortable speaking their native language with their daughter. In school though, when you're 12, if you want to learn English it's best to be immersed in it, so the English only rule makes sense. Or else you're just isolating into your own silo, not interacting with the school body at large and your English progress would likely have been much slower. A lot of workplaces and schools have rules around the working language. If your English was way worse now, you'd probably be saying the opposite, wishing your teachers enforced the English only rule better.

I think I had the same experience Conan is talking about. I once shared an office with a guy. This particular guy was of chinese descent, but he spoke english like a native, so I presumed he grew up here. One day he got a call from his mother and he started speaking perfect chinese, and because I didn't know he could, and never had heard him do it before, I was momentarily stunned as I tried to understand the words he was saying as English, before I realized he was speaking in Chinese. It was a weird sort of blown brain-fuse moment.
