caomhan84 In that context, we differ in perception. Being seniority comes with quality and experience and to me Rajkumar ranks way much higher on that than Sonam. Infact, even the most senior and experienced actors refrain from calling themselves senior infront of their colleagues, out of respect. Moreover, unlike Sonam, Rajkumar did not have the star background to help him launch himself earlier, otherwise the seniority part would just be void, both in essence and in practise :)

While she has the theory - the scalpel and the laser of Theater and Film, the confidence that Raj brings to just be himself is the crux of being a legendary actor, his process makes sense to me, while hers is dependent on coactors which to a large extent won’t work. The fire needs to come from within and the subtext of why you say what you say is so important regardless of what your coactor gives you. 8 years later, Raj has proven to be an undisputed Star, A grade Actor. But the fact that it took so long, is testament that outsiders do have it harder to make their mark with the audience and the filmmakers who believe that they will not be able to carry a film on their shoulders. So yes access to first film is easier as a star kid and yes proving yourself is part of any commercial actors journey, but money almost always flows repeatedly towards known faces. “When somebody is so bad, so bad but we still have to watch him in 25 films just because he’s somebody’s son or daughter - now that’s not fair” AGREED. Ok, I need to say this. I studied what she is calling "theatre arts" and it is simply the basics of theatre. When you get a theatre arts degree, you have not studied the craft of acting, just a well rounded idea of what theatre is. So you are not automatically a theatre actress due to that. BFA(bachelors in fine arts) are legit actors because it's a conservatory style teaching method. You are acting all day everday and learning theory.

Sonam puzzles me. I love all her interviews because she's smart and confident, but when she's talking about her method and dedication to her acting it feels like she's talking about someone else. I could never, till date, see all this effort reflected on her parts. Not even in Aisha, where she played someone much closer to her real socioecomic status. The nice thing about this chat is that the two of them come from very different places and their opinions are definitely not the same (I'm totally with him on the star kids privilege thing), but they hear each other's points of views and respect them.
