I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Sonam Wangchuk in the summer of 2014 at SECMOL, vill- Phey, near Leh. He was such a simple person, he welcomed us personally. I was with my family. He toured us his school, showed us how they were growing vegetables with minimum water. How they were storing grains, vegetables, eggs. The students prepared tea for us, the kitchen was solar powered as he was describing in this video about his love of optics, mirrors the same mirrors were being used to preheat water. Students themselves were preparing meals. Rooms of the school were heated with sun. My daughter who was 11 years old then was so impressed that she wanted to get admission there, but Mr. Sonam Wangchuk said that if she wanted to get admission there she had to fail first because students these days were not failing. Schools are injecting students the syllabus but the real study was missing.

Sonam Wangchuk meant that students who follow the laid down path pass easily. But those who explore the world around them, who try to learn from their surrounding have more chances to fail in their school exams. Those children are real learners whom he likes the most.

You have to go to Leh by air. From outside airport you can get a taxi for village Phey where SECMOL is situated. You will reach there by 15 to 20 minutes.

Energised.. was feeling low as doing research on nakshatras in astrology but feeling low as why do I write articles on that as people don’t like to know roots as are too busy in fruits. But this lecture boost me to do what you can give to society. And yes we just listen and write in today education as so many things we learn don’t know why we are learning?? Same as ‘ f ‘ for fan. As even our teachers don’t know. eg in schools we learn trigonometry but don’t know why , even teachers don’t know!!! But during research of nakshatras study I come to understand what is trigonometry and that time was wow time for me.

Why the fuck didn't they expand more on peer learning in "Three idiots"?
