Edwin, my electronics are old and don't even have gps. I was watching the Texas lake fork tournament where the winner was using forward looking sonar. He was seeing bass suspending in the trees. Is there a electronics I can get that doesn't cost thousands and still be able to do what you and other professionals have. I always like to get the best but can't afford it at this time in my life. Maybe give a break down of the different electronics for for different price ranges. Mike gentry AR 🎣🐟

Fishing has saved me from a life of a addiction. Been sober almost 8 months. Now I've got a old triton with a 150 I'm proud to own. Can't afford the the electronics yet but I will some day. It really opens up new possibilities just like sobriety. With ur tutorial atleast I'll have a basic understanding. Thx for the help. I love ur approach to helping others. I do the same by trying to inspire other addicts to help them with their recovery. U are helping so many. Good job you are my fishing hero.

Couple more questions. You talk of the importance of covering water. What do you need to see in practice to stay on a spot for “winning fish”?How many spots does a typical 4-day tournament require?
@EdwinEversfishing4 жыл бұрын
A four day tournament requires a lot of spots, not one or two. You have to think other Anglers are also going to find the same spots. If you’re lucky to find a spot and have it to yourself I think at least It needs to have a group of 20 to 30 fish minimum

What transducer do you have on your trolling motor? I have a HDI and I drop shot and can’t see the weight and bait like this. I’m very intrigued. I have a 3-1 on the transom that I’m thinking of moving to the trolling motor.

What is your transducer configuration. What Trolling transducer. And what transducers do you use at the console?
@raymaylone85634 жыл бұрын
My other question is about the spinning reel you’re using the Drag is set loose but when you said the hook on a fish you hear the drag paying out and your reeling At the same time. When both of these things happen aren’t you putting line twist into your spinning reel? I was always taught if the fish is pulling drag don’t real wait for him to stop swimming and then get that line back.
@EdwinEversfishing4 жыл бұрын
😂😂 yes you’re right I just didn’t tighten my drag back up from the previous fish! I’m doing all I can to get him in the boat LOL!

I have a ultrex with the universal transducer and a lowrance hook 2 unit. And I can't get it to show anything other than the depth of the water. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Generally the Ultrix transducer is pointed back you would need to put your bait back kind of under your boat to see it.

@@EdwinEversfishing I will have to try that next season since my boat is put away for the winter. But all summer I never saw a suspended fish or any balls of baitfish. I'm just curious if there is something wrong with my equipment.

If the bass were 15 to 20 ft down. with out drop shotting what other techniques would you use to target those bass? If you were deep cranking, what speed reel would you use?

A football jig would also have caught those fish if I backed off and casted to them. If I was deep cranking I would use a 6 to 1.

Morning E. How do you determine if fish is under trolling motor transducer or rear transducer. You said one suspended fish was out of the cone? Very confused.
@EdwinEversfishing4 жыл бұрын
The 2D sonar the one in the top right of the depth finder is beneath my trolling motor. The down scan panel or transducer is the one in the middle top and that is in the back of my boat. Does that make sense?
@marlonpowell25104 жыл бұрын
I was reading the comments and someone asked if you use a 3 in 1 transducer on the front. To clarify, you only have a 2d transducer on the front and is that how you're able to discern which transducer is reading the fish you're seeing? Also, would you be able to tell which transducer is reading what if you had both of your transducers 3 in 1?

I'm having a hard time understanding how often the images I'm looking at are refreshed... is it current image or past. Does it ping each time the screen scrolls to the end or is it continually pinging, refreshing the image. Also, I have trouble understanding my position in relation to what I'm seeing on my screen. Love these videos, learning a lot. Please keep providing us with your fishing insight and knowledge! 👍
@Nate_Cross4 жыл бұрын
It helps me to think of it as a piece of paper scrolling slowly to the left. The ff draws what is currently under the transducer along the right edge. It is constantly drawing what is directly under the boat, but the "paper" keeps scrolling to the left showing you what was under the boat in the past. Only the right edge is current, everything else is in the past and the further across the screen it is, the further in the past it was. Hope that helps.

It doesn’t change anything. Just remember the far right edge of the screen is real time exactly under the boat. Everything else to the left would be history or behind the boat as you move.
