This is a masterpiece of songwriting. Defenitely one of Sonata's best songs ever.

There are four songs about "Caleb": The End of this Chapter, Don't Say a Word, Caleb, and Juliet. They are all about the same person, the stalker we first meet in The End of this Chapter. When we first meet him, he is stalking this "Juliet." Then in Don't Say a Word, he tries to kill her. In Caleb, we went back to find out how he became this person. Now, in Juliet, this character apparently dies. Tony explained it somewhere.

Am I the only one who thinks the part in 4:16-4:22 is simply the best part in any of Sonata Arctica's songs? "You have played me for a fool, for all this time". I have no idea why. I've listened this song like 2000 times and it still gets me every single time. Am I crazy or does anyone else feel even slightly the same?

But The Days of Grays... Its just awesome! I love it most of all Albums ! The songs are coming so deeply from the Band memnerbs hearts, you can just feel it. I love Tonys new Vocals, they arent so squishy anymore, and I love the deeper voices, it just fits to the Album. Keep on doing! You guys are...

@veronicaahonen I also think that Juliet is the last song of this story...For me, it goes Caleb - End of this chapter - Don't say a word - Juliet. Makes more sense to me, in EotC he finds her again, gets into the house and has never wished her dead...YET (there he disovers she has found a new love). And then he decides that she has to die - DsaW - just like in the book he read (maybe he read the script to Romeo and Juliet, I also read it at school back then) - so "Juliet".

@Djawollo in songs, in story order, are caleb, the end of this chapter, dont say a word, and this ends it with juliet.
@JoePruzhanovLi12 жыл бұрын
I thought it was a reference to the play "Romeo and Juliet". Once Romeo is exiled Juliet takes a pill that makes her appear to be dead, although she is actually not. Friar Lawrence (The guy who made up this plan) tries to get the message to Romeo that she's not really dead. However Romeo's messenger Balthazar doesn't know this and gets the wrong message to Romeo first. So Romeo basically goes and finds her and Poisons himself next to her (When she's actually alive).

@vallecaucano114 I've heard from interviews that even the two 'dana' songs aren't related, but then again that's second-hand information. Now that I think about it, shy sounds a lot like The End Of This Chapter lyrically.

That's good to know. I'm just scouring youtube listening to these guys. So from someone who has yet found one of their cd's to buy (hopefully that will be remedied today when I got to FYE) It seems like Romeo and Juliet with lines like: "I hold your hand, close my eyes all I love finally dies Drank the poison most foul with you... But why do you smile?"

id like to hear Tony Kakko do some experimental black metal, he has the vocal versatility and possibly the ear for that style.
@PhoenixPhire2214 жыл бұрын
@KeyTib No... I think the band said this is the last part of the story. I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure this is the end. The song "Caleb" is the first part of the story. The Four songs in the "Caleb Saga" I believe are Caleb, Don't Say a Word, The End of this Chapter, and Juliet in that order. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that's it.
@stryfe4115 жыл бұрын
That's not how you say this is the best band/song ever.

@karhu96 I think it goes Caleb, The End Of This Chapter, Don't say a word, and Juliet. it makes sense to me that way cause he finds her in TEoTC and plots her murder in Don't say a word
@rph199014 жыл бұрын
What gets me, is that although we learn the caleb is the bad guy, we never genuinely learn Juliet is the good guy. Were led to believe this is a happy ending, but theres still a page missing, and possibly a whole other story
@PhoenixPhire2214 жыл бұрын
Agree... This album was alright and better than the last one but those two are much better IMO.
@HinnStormur14 жыл бұрын
@suchsilence1 Which album do you deem more interesting? I like the last one very much, but I think it's a little, little step backwards with respect to Unia. More direct, more emotional perhaps, but a little bit "duller" in some way. I hope you understand what I mean; they are stille two great albums! :-)
@PhoenixPhire2214 жыл бұрын
@moviemaker3000 No... Sing in silents isn't but Juliet is... this has been confirmed by the band themselves. Juliet is the ending. You can read it in interviews. Some interviewer was asking if Juliet was about Romeo and Juliet. He laughed and said no, they have their own story going through our albums. Shakespeare had Romeo and Juliet. We have Caleb and Juliet.

@MegamanBeta If that creeps you out, you don't want to listen to Dreamspace or Thin Ice by Stratovarius or Goodnight Kiss by Dream Theater before bedtime, because they all have very sad and unnerving atmosphere, and scary sound effects (ie. psychotic laughing, horrifics screams and a mirror breaking.).

2:09 the voice part of this song that can't exit my mind
@PhoenixPhire2214 жыл бұрын
Edit: Actually... I had heard that's the order but I just listened to all the songs in that order and I think it would be more correct to put Don't say a Word after End of this Chapter. And Caleb is more like a prologue that explains the Character in the three songs. So it's more like a trilogy of songs (End of this Chapter, Don't Say A Word, Juliet) with Caleb giving more of a back story and can be listened to anywhere in there. Personally I think the release order is how they should be heard.

@EnderGed Caleb / TEotC / DSaW / Juliet I'd say there'd be one song missing between Caleb and TEotC, something that would tell how they met and how they were together. But he does die in Juliet.

@thegreatninjaman I think it´s part of the Caleb series Caleb>Don´t say a word>The end of this chapter>Juliet I could be wrong about the order though.

@evanescence9314 Only Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" was a THEATRICAL PLAY... not a book... originally. If it was actually "Romeo and Juliet" he might've said something like "I've seen a story about a man, a love, a woman, how they died." But that sounds about right, since Juliet didn't die...

@6ixpoint5ive i may be wrong in the interpretation but it starts with a kid named caleb (my name actually) and his parents hated him and he grows up being an unstable alcoholic and in TEoTC he finds some girl he's bee looking for and in DSAW he plots to kill her because she cheats and doesnt love him and in this his plan goes wrong and he dies but she doesnt.

The picture I'm seeing is during Don't Say a Word, Caleb is monologuing to her while he is chasing her- he doesn't actually have her captive. Then she somehow tricks him or something and gets away and leaves him to die. This song takes place then.
