First time i Heard this versión i was like meh! i prefer the original over 9000 times but i kept listening... I think from the middle part (a Little before) and forward is much better tan the old one. Much more strenght and feeling. Can't stop listening it tbh, my favourite song of sonata arctica ever

Look at the piece we are talking about. It's corroded, coverd by some sort of sediment. All intended to sugest that it has been lying under water for a long time. If so, why would the glass, and the glass only, stay perfectly clean and without any mud, algea coating or whatever :P You can trust me, it's just a clumsy mistake by an artist who created this cd cover :D

Dana is Mary-lou, Mary-lou is Victoria, and Victoria is Tallulah. Dana is nobody, or could be anyone, it's just a figure of Tony's imagination. The name was inspired by the X-Files series, but has nothing more to do. :3

The character in this song is a bit of an arsehole. Dana seems tae have gotten away from fundamentalist community and had a wonderful life. Lover here comes across as a childhood friend with unrequited feelings who judges her for her life and wants her to be his. Great song.

Darth Lazurus that's a point of view. For myself, i see a man who got fully rejected by his one true love. She refuse to even speak with him as a friend, and ignore him for her hole life while he never forget her. For me that song says that the true good guy will stay alone in the end if he chooses to keep faithful in his believes and his honesty. Very sad song, and very true for myself...

H2SO4pyro I don't even think he once spoke to her. It comes across that he is writing letters that he never sent. There is tragedy in the song, but the lyrics make it seem that he is focusing on Dana as a child while disapproving of her adult life. Her father disowning her because she sinned? Begs the question what she did. She has an Irish name so there is quite of list of what that sin was.

I don't think Dana as a child opposed to her adulthood is the core of the song (she may do what she pleases, only her father juges her and even him has no choice but forgive). It's more like something about love being above any jugement: he doesen't aprove her life but it doesn't matter to him, he just wait endlessly as his heart "just cannot handle that". What she did doesn't matter because whatever she do it won't change his feelings, in fact he is so blinded that he have to sin by himself ("mess that i am in", maybe there is not only lie...). There are so many untold feelings in this song, it's very strong: I think the main question behind this text is why do he keep waiting? why not just forget her? My answer is that when love is that impossible and when you have no self confidence, pain feels sweet. He loves to love his sinner Dana. But it's only my interpretation
