I actually think this is one of their best songs, like top 5. There's so many subtle layers that take many listens to pick up, like how the piano melody trails off after every "chorus" in the beginning. In fact, I think the piano work is the star of the show. It is extremely whimsical and grounds the song into a fantastical, dreamy feel.

Such a unique song. No chorus, just storytelling. Really an unappreciated one by SA.

I've actually always hated how the drum completely ignores the compound meter of the actual music haha, it just makes it sound like Portimo doesn't know how to play a 6/8 groove

I love this song. It sounds like something straight out of a fairy tale and, not only that, but the way they set up the music was incredible.( I.E. The third verse with the puppet master.)

No point in comparing. Queen was something else; their music is legendary. Sonata Arctica is absolutely something different as well. Their music is simply brilliant. Nothing good ever comes from comparing the giants whose awesomeness is unfathomable.

The song meaning is quite simple if you read the lyrics. Till then i thought it was more complex, and it spoke about a father puppeteer obsessed with the puppet that gives him money and popularity in his shows, while his son is left as a secondary person. Thats what makes the song envy the puppet, at first trying to buy it from his father, and then wishing to get his fathers recognition as the puppet did. His father then turns him into a puppet cause he became obsessed with the idea, and then the boy repents.
@simonsalgueiro62179 жыл бұрын
***** Theres one sentence: "Did I not make it clear? This debate is over I will never part from this puppet, my son...". Even when you can say he considers the puppet as his son, you could interpretate it the other way with some imagination. I find it more dramatic

"Even when you can say he considers the puppet as his son, you could *interpretate* it the other way with some imagination. *I find it more dramatic*" I say i said it plenty of times. Arent you a bit butthurt for such a trivial thing anyway? Di you wrote the song and went mad cause i interpretated my own way or something? cause this is getting stupid

+poochy2479 For anyone with basic knowledge of psychology THAT interpretation is one of the most appropiate. It has nothing to do with "my son".

This song is always whispering to my ears. Because i kind a thinking to know that what Kakko is singing about. Maybe is coming out of the closed sort of the... Than even Kakko isn't anything near about to be that kind of people. But i could think that it would fit to people who has, feeling like that. And yes i am huge fan of Sonata, from the begging of their path.

@DeathBat12051992 Not sad, but true. The message should be clear, and it's not about puppets but about greed. We pay for our mistakes, and most often humans just want and want and want more and more - we deserve a punishment. And when that punishment comes, we regret all too late what we've done.
