Bro! You GOT me! First video I’ve seen. Like your style. 2 years old now, so things may have changed, but I have subscribed and definitely will be checking out some more of your videos.

Nice. Good to see what "normal" every-day operations are like. Makes me want to get back in the air :)

Hi John, I enjoyed your video. As it played, I paid close attention to your airspeed indicator. From my experience, it appears to be working perfectly. Please note that when your are in your landing configuration with a high angle of attack environment, and you do windward slip activities to maintain runway alignment, you will always see an airspeed disturbance - especially if your pitot tube is located on the lee side of the slip. While I would pay close attention during your walk-arounds, I wouldn't bar press too much over this. It's just a part of gathering it all in as you acclimate to your ship.

I'm your first thumbs up and second subscriber haha. Way ta go my friend. Check the pitot tube obstructions. Your idea sounds valid as well.

Airspeed - my pitot static (the factory recommended one from Aircraft Spruce) suffers from big calibration errors at low speed and high angles of attack. Flaps 30 also just makes a nonsense of the ASI at high angles of attack. Anything below 40 KIAS (I fly in knots) and I take it with a BIG pinch of salt and pay more attention to the seat of my pants and the VSI. I use Downwind 80KIAS, Base 70KIAS, Final 60KIAS and over the fence at 60 - then slow, flare and put her down by eye - the ASI is saying anything from 35 to 45 KIAS. Depends what I am doing with flaps 20/30 at that point. Here are some stall numbers I developed: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qH_YeKKkba6Vfac&ab_channel=graemejwsmith My logbook says I fueled at KUSE 28th July 2012 - while on a flight from Iowa to Rhode Island!

Flaps on landing? What is your practice?

Be nice to install an AOA/lift reserve indicator and fly that on approach rather than the ASI.

Friend on mind just purchased a Sonex with an 80 hp Aerovee engine. Can you specify your engine size, and how much y’all weighed for this flight? We are worried if we fly together, we will be over gross weight. Thanks, enjoyed!!

Good video! Just a suggestion ... I installed an LRI (Lift Reserve Indicator) in my Cleanex (Corvair powered Sonex) and it is very steady on the readout and gives excellent information for short field take-off and landings. You can see it here in this video (old video from flight testing so please excuse the quality) on the top left of the panel. When the wheels chirp (at :28) it reads one notch into the red zone. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZukaH16f7t-m7M I can get really consistent approaches regardless of weight, density altitude, etc.
