You have amazing and wonderful taste in cover material! Fine execution too. I have only recently discovered JPOP, and I too am amazed by Yazutaka Nakata. Being 61, I am of a different generation than you. But I relate to Nakata as a pop songwriting genius on the order of a modern day Paul McCartney or Burt Bacharach. The man simply cranks out pop gems by the dozen. I repeatedly hear harmonic and structural wonders in Nakata/JPOP that I fail to hear in most other world music (esp US).
