In August of 2023 one of my best friends, my bandmate, my songwriting mentor Dana Michael Anderson committed suicide. There's a pain that runs through me that's almost unbearable at times. I recorded this on Thanksgiving Day two days before his memorial show. He believed in me before I believed in myself. He single handedly lead me to my voice as a musician and singer. This is Fort Worth Blues by Steve Earle. He wrote this after Townes Van Zandt passed away. One day I'll write a song about my friend, Dana. Until then I hope you listen to his music.
And.. If you feel like you're having trouble seeing the beauty in life let me know and we can go look for it.

I just spent the last hour listening to Dana and his music. I'll continue to listen. He's a beautiful musician and seems like an incredibly warm soul. I'm so sorry for your loss and his pain. From a fellow St Louisan, I hope you find peace .

Lefty, I just stumbled on your channel. I am sorry for your loss. I work with veterans helping them navigate their suicidal thoughts through working with horses. I play a bit as well. Your singing and story stoped me and I had to comment. Be strong, keep singing. Loss to suicide will never really heal, just continue to share your voice and sing the memory of your friend and maybe over time it will hurt a little less. Be well. Thor
