Heard this song awhile back on a movie soundtrack. Reminded me of a girl I knew when I was young. We spent many days together and I had some of the best times in my life. Everything moved slow for awhile. I can remember the moments we shared...every detail like it was yesterday. Months went by and we went separate ways. Two years later, she was found death on a trail at her families horse farm. Probably from a overdose. Today...I'm married to a woman for 40 years...and tonight I played this song for my grand-daughter..and she loved it...and we decided to play outside tonight under a full moon chasing our moon shadows, while this song was playing....

That’s poetry. I weep and I mean I weep for men who will never feel or experience what you did. I know so many who could never relate and will never know true life experience dealing with love and loss and never forgetting forever keeping some girl in your heart no matter how much time passes. I have one or two like that. I’m 45. Married to a great wife now. But I still to this day still harbor a sliver of it for someone I lost due to my own selfishness and stupidity. It haunts me every day.

This song came into my life unexpectedly and I am addicted to it. Not so much for the words, but the melody captures my heart and soul because it is for someone I love deeply and endlessly, being far apart and not able to touch each other that grips my heartstrings and I only wish someday I can show this person the love I have for him will never die, never fade and I miss him every minute of the day and through eternity. I have never opened up my heart this way to anyone and he has mesmerized me and holds my heart and soul.

I can't explain what the heck is going on. When I first heard this years ago the sound captivated me, and here I am now down a rabbit hole of various KZbin versions, a grown a$% man being brought to tears just by the music. Now this version made the lyrics clear to me for the first time. Although they don't make full literal sense to me, they evoke a deep poetic meaning. This is what a great song is all about.

I met a girl this summer her name is Ava. & when I started talking to her I wasn’t that nervous probably because my friend was there too. Anyway she’s a lifeguard so, I always go to the pool to see if she’s there. & if she is I immediately start talking to her. I’m not nervous at all probably because she actually talks to me back & engages in conversations with me. She’s really cute & nice. I’ll see her Saturday but unfortunately it will be the last time I see her for the summer since the pool will be closed Monday but hopefully she’s there next year.

Wonderful song open to many experiences and interpretations. Ultimately, I hear a bitter sweet condemnation of "love" clearly personified as a 'killer', for being deceptive, fickle and disfiguring. The persona freely admits to giving in to the Cage of love and denies being subservient to love but not convincingly. He recalls the good times on the 'dessert plains' but also admits to now being a 'broken thing' This is an Ode to love as a very tough, destructive, 'caring' thing turning the person into a something of A gorillas behind A zoo Cage ready to kill those who come to stare at it.
