use Synthesia ( its a programme ) it will help you a lot to devlope your both hands playing .. its very useful ....

Do all scales with the left hand and right hand everytime before you start learning a new piece, or just practicing in general. Give it a few months, or weeks, and you'll be set for years until you find something really challenging. *NOTE: do the scales with both hands at the same time, take your time. Dont rush it if you cant play them fast, go slow and it'll get easier and easier everyday. Worked for me :D

Just make him stick with it. My mom wanted me to play and put me in lessons at 6 years, i wanted to quit and hated it but by 4th grade, I learned a song that changed everything and it became my refuge ever since. Now I am 28 and pregnant and playing all the time so my future baby can hear it. Just make your son stick with it and hopefully eventually he will find the passion!
