Yo cliff no cap. It's not because you have a girl reacting with you, even if she is your girlfriend. I've been a silent watcher for a long time. But the reactions you do with Karen are golden. She really tries to understand EM. I hope you continue this trend and show her who EM really is. A complicated person making dope music and expressing himself through written words and cadence trying to alleviate his rage and and personality as all of we are. We are ALL fucked up in a way. You are one of my favorite youtubers about music and covering EM. Anyway hope the best for you, your girl, your family and etc.

Peep how the fact he says: "1-2-3 that ain't the hook now follow me". He actually says it at 1:23 on the track timer. Em is way too clever of a MC this track is genius in a menacing way. There’s another version of this song that recently just got leaked it was for the 2006 retirement album titled “King Mathers” it’s (Version 2) that was recorded June 11th 2007 - Has an Intro & Dre’s phone call is a reference part. Identical to the Official Version it's also worth noting the end of the Intro where the alarm goes off where Em screams “AHH” was reused on the very end of ‘Brand New Dance’ on The Death of Slim Shady & when he says “Oh Shit” was reused on ‘3 am’ on Relapse. ‘Brand New Dance’ he says “Holy Shit” in his current/modern voice. ‘3 am’ he screams “NOOO” y’all would have to listen to that version on your own time but it’s fantastic!🐐🔥(But I will say the one that got released on Relapse Refill definitely is the best version of the song he mastered storytelling and concept rapping all in one on this track it’s truly a Top 25 Eminem song of all time in my honest opinion. If you listen to the beat carefully, you can notice that there is a chainsaw sample trying to get fired up. It's a metaphor/represents Shady/The Devil trying to take over Marshall. In the end, Shady is able to completely take over and thus you hear the running chainsaw.)

Eminem's overall rhyme scheme is fuuuucking NASTY man. In terms of pure lyricism, bars and technical skill, Relapse is probably one of his most *PHENOMENAL* albums. I remember when Relapse dropped, I got the Deluxe version ASAP and *this song* specifically stunned me. I was shellshocked and had goosebumps because his last real project was Encore. The creativity was nuts. The syllables, punctuation and delivery of how he hits his lines and multisyllabics are insane.

I thought that this song was about Eminem who was trying to beat his old addiction to drugs, but caved in to his old habit at the end? Because Eminem has said on various interviews that doing drugs would normally help him with his raps. He’s also said that he tried to quit with his drug addiction multiple times, after Proof died, but kept failing. Even lied to people that he went to rehab one of the times he didn’t actually go. I think, in this song, that the devil was the illusion that Eminem wanted you to believe as one of the problems he’s been dealing with since his rose to fame, but it was actually the pills he’s been taking. Because one of the lines said “look at us on that poster. Isn’t that us on that poster?” Which that poster is the cover of the album on the screen. I could be wrong though
@DLFLux13 сағат бұрын
It’s a double. It’s him battling his addiction inner demons but it’s also the music industry, he mentions in the first verse about people selling their souls to the rap game, then later the demon voice says “you sold your soul need I remind you.” Also, Em rose to fame and released SSLP - Encore then took a 4 years away before Relapse released, so when the demon voice says “I let you watch your girls blossom” he’s basically saying he gave Em what he wanted, he became famous then after some time had passed after Encore, the demon has now come back to claim Em’s soul - “I gave you enough time, your soul’s mine” - the entire thing behind the “selling your soul to the devil” thing, in every story, the person always gets everything they ever wanted, but the devil always comes back to collect and we he does it’s game over. The demon even tries to manipulate Em by using a fake illusion of Dre to tempt Em to get back on the drugs, and that’s the devil’s main attack, temptation.

Good reaction guys. I've personally had a different interpretation to both the Devil and Slim he's talking to, i think it's the Pills and Drugs. I think the voice says 'isn't that us on that poster' and the Relapse cover is pills. Also 'Shady is vodka and blonde hair dye, and he refers to a 'spirit' which can be a double for the devil and alcohol. Just my take that's part of the double

Here's the question though: Is "My Darling" about drug addiction, the rap industry, EGO/PRIDE, or the DRIVE to be the best that Em can be inside of himself. Even if you ignore the "devil" concept, you still have so many layers involved to what/who "My Darling" actually is. You have Em's drug use and what it cost him, you have the industry constantly pushing Em for new content and the "tease" of wealth/fame at the cost of "personal life", the ego/pride of being the best rapper overall which will cost you "time" because of what you have to put aside to BE the best possible, and then the internal drive to just do the best you can do no matter what in regard to what you put out NOT being "popular" in a way that it used to be and yet still the "best you can do". ALL of these factors can be seen as "my darling" because they ALL have one thing in common, and that is having to put aside so much of your "personal live" that you miss out on the IMPORTANT things. Children growing up, spouse issues, what is going on with friends, having the time to "unwind and relax", being able to catch your breath and plan what to do next... they ALL eat into the time you need to ENJOY what you have achieved in life.

The devil... combined with hs addiction... NOT of drugs but of rap music... of killing it on the mic... And in turn his addiction and codependent tendencies... This is maybe the first of songs where his addiction to the rap game is personified... here as the devil, later as a toxic relationship, a codependent relationship.
