Growing up, I'd spend so long playing World of Warcraft, especially in the night elf zones, that now this song has a superpower to instantly invoke feelings of childlike awe, exploration of the world and intense nostalgia. I've always thought this song was so ethereal and the lyrics so elusive that it would be very difficult to make cover of it that can invoke the same emotions, yet somehow you did it! Thank you so much for taking the time to learn this and sharing your talents with us. I'm curious what was your methodology for learning the vocals were since the "lyrics" (if you can even call then that) are so unnatural and otherworldly, I feel like it may have been a challenge.

It was 10 years ago in 2007, I was 14 years old and had just gotten World of Warcraft. I chose a Night elf Druid as my first character on the durotan server. Exploring darkshore and ashenvale till early in the morning even when i knew I had school the next day was some of the best times of my life and well worth it. I think only people that played all those years ago can truly understand the feelings of levelling through this mysterious and tranquil area. It is sad those days are over but i am just grateful to have experienced it. I still play WoW on and off but nothing beats those first couple of years, they will stay with me till the end of my days. Awesome music.

Yes, never will they understand the feeling of having to read the quest, still get lost, and then relying on thottbot. Or, perhaps even before your time, using warlocks as meeting stones! Good stuff.

Thanks for listening :) Well said! My first character was a night elf hunter, and exploring those zones for the first time was one of the most fun days/nights/subsequent mornings ever. First time in Ashenvale - ahhh run awayyy from the bears! I remember getting to Deeprun Tram to try to meet up with my friends in-game for the first time, and one of them falling off the tram as soon as we took off. All of the WoW music from this time (and later times) instantly takes me back, and it's a cool feeling. I've been wanting to reactivate again lately and typing this just made me want to more. xD Also - lol yes to thottbot, looking up cords, and I almost forgot about warlocks as meeting stones haha

When you listen to the original version of this song (or any song with tons of layers of harmonies), can you clearly hear them all individually? I can never parse through some of the harmonies. There's a song I love called "Retrospect" by Tesseract, and near the end, the singer goes "Inadequate, inadequate, I know, I know, I know." No matter how hard I try, I cannot 'hear' the lower harmony to be able to sing it in my covers.
