I'm saddened by all the adverse comments on this delightful performance; Carla did many performances of the Doll aria, most have been blocked on YT by UMG. But when you see so many adverse comments, it is no wonder that up-coming young artists are taking their talents elsewhere than opera - the opera audience seems to contain nothing but critics!

André Rieu, his orchestra and Carla's rendition of this famous aria is just superb! I quote an expert "Not many sopranos can successfully perform Offenbach's "Les oiseaux dans la charmille" - the music requires a nimble, yet strong, lyric coloratura soprano voice capable of incredible ornamentations and range. Despite its challenges, there are a handful of performers who come to mind." The quoter omitted to mention Carla's rendition which is first class and Carla's high Eb6 at the end was brilliant as was her performance throughout. I'm definitely a fan. Sumi Jo is another great performer of this piece.

Let me clarify. In real Opera houses they do not use head microphones due to the acoustic design of the hall. They may use PZM (pressure zone microphones) on the stage floor.. In outdoor settings and in arenas where acoustics are little to none, they do wear the hidden microphones and they use PZM on the stage. Before I was an EMT, I went to school for Live sound reinforcement... Medical pay better...
