You almost see the barges being pulled up Volga River. That bass singing is bordering on throat singing. Gives you goosebumps.

Nothing like a good Russian men’s chorus to give you goosebumps. I still remember the words from when I had Russian class in high school in the early 1970s. Beautiful.

My brother has a natural tendency to sing all vocal music at least an octave lower. The song of the Volga boatmen is one of his favourites. The neighbours sometimes love to listen to him ⛱. I also love it because it makes my body vibrate from head to toe.

There is a small outdoor rotunda/bandstand in a nearby town, built with some serious acoustics. I wandered in one evening after leaving a restaurant and gave it a try with a bit of the Volga Boatman. The bones in my skull vibrated, my teeth felt like they were going to come loose! Never experienced anything like it before or since!

Greetings to you! This is the song of the Volga boatmen (these were peasants in tsarist Russia who lived and worked on the Volga and they dragged barges along the river by force of their hands). The song is almost without words (in the sense that it does not tell any story), it is rather such a rhythmic motif that boatmen cheer themselves up when they do very hard work - hey, let's hoot, hey, let's do it again, hey, come on! The main point, of course, is in the melody and performance - they convey the heavy share of people who have a very difficult and difficult life! I hope that it was possible to explain. Good luck to you!))

At that time, we sang this song in Japanese, nowhere near like this, but I could imagine how it was supposed to sound, and this is exactly how I had imagined!
