Such a unique and beautiful Chinese song . I’ve listened to this at opera house in Shunde, Foshan , where I was invited by Chinese lady I’ve met only once , she wanted to show her hospitality. A guest has a special importance in Georgian culture as well and I appreciate this welcoming attitude a lot. I think more people should know about this part of Chinese culture and this particular song .

I see this is at the Sydney Opera House in 2002. In the first few second shot of the audience, there is the former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke in the middle. That makes sense. He did a lot for Chinese relations. I feel nostalgic for this very pretty song after my travel to China in 2009 and it was included in the video made of the Yangtze River tour I did. That was done as a solo and I think probably nicer in that format. But it fits a range of styles.

I’m a Spanish student, but every year we do competitions in our separate languages. Three of my friends are fluent in Chinese and sang this song (we’re in the same choir, so that’s how I was able to watch their performance after competing, since we’re in different rooms for presentations).
