All glory to JESUS. Glad you were blessed by this. I am not sure I understand the question about the 'translation technique'. I am an improvisational musician, so I grew up picking nuggets from all genres. I combine those elements and add my own unique feel when I do these covers. In terms of the bass notes I play on piano, I typically play the 1-5-1. So if I am playing a C chord, my notes on bass will be C G C(on the higher octave). Hope this helps.

Not overly technical, but yes: If you have the funds, find a seasoned teacher who can read music and improvise and have face-to-face lessons. I never had the opportunity to do so, but its definitely effective. Learn your chord, chord progressions and chord inversions Listen to music all the time and figure songs by ear to the best of your ability (don't just listen passively, take note of dynamics, intensity.. etc) Study other instruments (this will help you better understand the role of the keyboard in a band context) Obviously, practice a lot...and make practice fun Most important: Spend a lot of time in prayer and scripture and ask GOD to help you.
