One of my all time favorite movies. Kentucky Appalachian music is in my family. Recordings of great Grandma Lula Mae singing mountain songs. Everyone of us can harmonize on a dime , its just in us. My uncle is a great musician and also taught me some of the songs. I've been a Yankee for decades, but as a musician I keep singing these songs. Haunting.

Most of this movie was filmed in my town of Maggie Valley, NC. This music is the first music I’ve ever heard. Family gathering on the porch to play and sing was the start of my life. ❤

I have never heard of this movie before. I grew up surrounded by music like this all the time. I'm afraid to watch the movie, for fear it will ruin my memories. And I know there are singers in that area with songs yet to be caught

I grew up here. The first music I remember as a child came from the back porch or relatives when we all got together. There’s brilliance in this film and it should only enhance your existing memories.

If this is a Film 4 film then why has it not been released in the UK?, you can buy this (region 1 encoded), but not here in the UK (region 2), any plans to release this over here by any chance?

Dear Maggie Greenwald, Regarding your great neo-noir film The Kill-Off: Do you happen to remember the LP title of the striptease-music and in the hammond-organ jazz music played at 23.52 - 24.54 and again at 38.15 - 41.37 in your excellent film, The Kill-Off? As it is different to the film sountrack-score written by Evan Lurie. I have been trying to discover what the title of the jazz-organ LP was and who were the musicians are for many years as it is such great music; but it is not on the screen credits at the end of the film..
