Final Fantasy VIII - Fisherman's Horizon cover 【Songe】

This is a cover of Fisherman's Horizon from the soundtrack of Final Fantasy 8.

I had this one in mind for quite a long time, and here it is, finally. I rarely cover tunes with just one guitar, so I hope it'll sound ok, because playing with almost no fingernails is hard. There's already a lot of good guitar versions of Fisherman's Horizon on KZbin, so I decided to jazz it up a little. Only two takes were made... =)

Fisherman's horizon...ill never forget this melody, more specifically the piano arrangement. 8 years ago back when I was a teenager I had met this girl for the first time. I was listening to the piano version on my mp3 and as she walked my way to introduce herself our eyes made contact for the first time outside of just pictures of what we had seen on myspace. I wont bother with the details on who she was and how we first met, but I can call back to day so vividly. The first girl I had ever made out with as well. It's a special childhood memory I have of her, and it's not just cause we sucked faces but it was a rad day to have meet such a good person. As the years trudged on we had a bad falling out but when ever I listen to this tune, no matter how its played, I always find myself reflecting back to that moment in time during her softball practice in the late afternoon.

Last week I played FF8 after 4 years. ...You know what I did? muted my TV, and once I was at Fisherman's Horizon with the Balamb Garden ( due to that reparation when Squall discovered the flying system of the garden ) I started up this song ( respect to the original one ofc ). Final Fantasy? a game that made us united and let us dream every night of our lives. The legend it's still going on strong after all these years, and I can't believe such epicness has been made long time ago.

This has always been one of my favorite FF VIII tracks. It reminds me of the more classic early NES era town themes and the Final Fantasy theme music (not the Prelude). It also has a bit of a Seiken Densetsu 1 and SaGa 2 feel to it to me. Your rendition, though a bit different in pace, is excellent!

merci pour cette version je l'écoute depuis des années et je kiffe tjrs autant comme tout tes morceaux (je me suis relancé ff8 sur ps4 vive les promos ^^ ca m'a rappelé tes morceaux notamment fisherman's island dieu que je kiffe ta version magique :) )je suis nul a chier en reprises je préférais composer ds une autre vie mais j etais pas doué non plus mais j'aimais vraiment ça et now j'ai plus le tps et ca me manque je retombe sur ta video tu me redonnes l'envie de gratter à nouveau merci bonne fin d'année et aux tiens biz

you can clearly see that when nobuo composed this he had some ff7 on his mind. good old times. What´s awesome is that the new composer for ff13 did an awesome job and brought fresh types of music but with that ff feel to it, I feel we´re in good hands with Masausu. sorry for the ramble. This was an excellent rendition of the song on guitar- usually guitarists go for the cliche and do a metal version consisting of only lead and no rhythm.

@chrisatronx I'm pretty sure it doesn't remain diatonic. It stays in E, but there are many chords that are borrowed from different keys (For instance, the G# major at 2:04--in E, that should be minor.) and the end modulates quickly to the unrelated key of (I think) C Major.

There are definitely chromatic notes in this version of the song, and in case you didn't know, Nobuo (the composer of this music) almost never writes a song without chromaticism in his runs or 7/9 chords.
